Q: What's the point of "advertising your server" to a dead board? Why even use this board?
A: Well, there are several reasons not to directly advertise your server on very active boards like /v/ or /b/. You may attract a lot of players very quickly that way, but as the saying goes, quantity does not necessarily mean quality. This board also gives you a space to easily manage the information over a long period of time without the risk of it being slid off a fast board. If you have friends who want server information, you can simply direct them to the thread you started here on /gs/. Likewise, instead of directly making threads with your server info on /v/, you can more subtly advertise your server by posting a small link in a thread about the game on /v/, the idea being an effort filter, if that makes any sense.
