ITT we discuss our game progress.

I started playing my first EU game, and I chose EU3. Playing as Teutonic Order.

I just spent all day beating Ukraine out of Lithuania instead of blobbing over it (That comes later). Denmark, with it's Scandinavian bros declared war on me early on, trying to take Gotland, but I managed to survive by choosing the 50% off naval building Idea and spamming Carracks right before they had enough manpower to take me down. Used the war to beat Denmark into unvassalizing Holstein.

Plan is to take Russia and/or colonize west coast of NA up to Alaska and down to Mexico. Haven't decided when I'll do which.

I'm currently allied with Bohemia. I was allied with Scotland, because I thought I might be able to help it out before England wages it's war of conquest, but that didn't happen. I kind of feel bad leaving the Scots to die like that, but I was in no position to fight a England/Portugal/Austria(HREmperor) alliance.

Hungary is getting scary big, but I hope I can ally soon.

What about you guys? How are your games? Let's keep each other updated.

I've become obsessed with trying to survive as Mayan in EU3. I know it's possible.

My first game (Pic 1 and 2), I was doing pretty well. Economy was magnificent (War with Aztec every now and again to take all it's stockpiled gold from it's mines), sufficient army to deal with any random rebels, and a core on all my provinces.

See, the problem with Maya, Aztec, or Zapotec is that you can't own more than 9 provinces without triggering events that cause mass revolts, and, if your current leader doesn't have tremendous stats, severe penalties (Incapable ruler). Thus, I was forced to just vassal Aztec and Zapotec with these borders instead of blobbing over them. This severely crippled me.

To make matters worse, I was unaware of the speed limit for New World tech groups (Speed of tech investment slows to a crawl when you reach lvl 3), so I was constantly pushing for gov. lvl 4 without knowing that I was crippling myself by not going for Land 3 to fort up.

When I reached my first Idea, I got to colonizing, which was a huge boom to my economy. Then the Westerners showed up. They instantly hated me despite everything I did, but I managed to use them to westernize to Muslim. France took Honduras, but it was no matter to me. I finally got to Land 3, and used all my money to fort up, but it did little. My ruler prematurely died and left me with a regency, disallowing me to westernize my units, and finally France declared war again right before I came of age, and that was gg.

My next game, I decided, instead of taking the provinces next to me, to just Annex Aztec's starting location with it's two gold mines, which would cap me at 9 provinces, and vassalize Zapotec, which will be my military arm. (Pic 3)

I won't make the mistake of leaving Land tech for later again.

It's very possible. Your first objective is to be able to get colonists, and then getting enough tech so that you can westernize when the whitu pigs arrive. You will not be able to fight them completely until you can westernize your troops, so do a holding mission with massive stacks while desparately upgrading your tech when they arrive. And yes, I think you are right to go with full annexation strategy.

I would suggest using some light modding, even if you are pro vanilla, so that you will be able to build fleets. Last time I played they couldn't really do anything naval, so I'm sure there's something out there, or maybe just some light modding, that could get you the transports you need to bring revenge…

I was never really successful with American civilizations, when I stopped playing I was trying to set up aesthetic OPM empires, but if you can get to Eastern European for your land armies the game will get way easier. Best of luck.

I've managed to effectively surpass the United States as the CSA from the Civil War bookmark. It's surprisingly easy so long as you don't bother with occupations, and just use your amazing commanders to get battle warscore. That, and you should try to get all of South America in your sphere, if only to reduce the effect of enemy occupations.

Currently working on test build v4, which should be ready by next Friday, as I have many things to do right now IRL.

Changelog and link is in the pastebin.

It's for 2.4.5 and I will never update it any higher, for I have to use my shitty notebook only and it already runs slowly.

tl;dr of the changelog is no india, performance mods, many mini-gameplay mods, no bloating stuff

In one of my CKII games (Charlemagne start, the save is lost, sadly), AI Khazaria managed to conquer the entire Byzantine Empire in a single war, resulting in a nomad blob which began in Southern Italy and ended in Mongolia.

The Khazar ruler settled down, becoming a Muslim Byzantine Emperor and separating his realm from Khazaria. Several years later, he was overthrown by an Orthodox faction favouring the previous ruler. Afterwards, Khazaria, which lost about half of its territory to succession troubles, attacked and conquered the Byzantine Empire ``again``.

In the same savegame, Denmark conquered Lithuania and successfully converted it to the Germanic faith, and Poland decided to expand into pagan Sweden and Finland. Sweden regained its independence later on, but its rulers remained Polish.

So…

I'm making a mod somewhat based on the book "The Peshawar Lancers" by S.M. Stirling. I've done all the provinces and pops by now, but there's still a long way to go before it's playable. Would anyone be interested in it when it's done, or does it seem eh to you guys?

For reference, the main GPs will be The British Raj, France Outremer, the Caliphate of Damascus, Japan, and the Dominions of the House of Braganza. I haven't edited names yet. Do feel free to make suggestions if you're at all interested. I have some events planned out, but haven't added them yet.

>Features

- No empty provinces, all filled in with new nations. Most of these new nations are tribal in nature.

- Large number of provinces, but all placed within the original area used in vanilla Rome

- Also has barbarian invasions from off the edge of the map

- Assaults on fortifications removed, thus preventing stupid AI from making suicide attacks when they could win by just waiting

- Number of events added in relation to states paying tribute to you, including the possibility of peacefully annexing long-term tributaries with good relations

- Overland trade possible without needing roads, making requests for trade access actually relevant

- Character traits have more effects, some good and some bad

- Republics now elect some positions (not generals) automatically for you, but you can veto any choices you don't like

- Easier to ally with other nations not part of the same religion as you

- And more.

 No.4702[Reply]

I'm not sure why, but for some reason, I'm appallingly bad at EUIV.

>First Game: Portugal

Tried to take on Castille with Aragon and England. Managed to take Galacia, but went massively into debt. Not too much later, England gets involved in the 100 years war and Aragon joins Castille in a union. When Castille comes back for their land, they steamroll me and take several provinces, take all of my money and then some, and leave me a bankrupt mess.

>Second Game: France

Actually finished the whole game this time. Got to say, it was pretty boring. By the end, I had more or less recreated the current irl borders of France. By the 1600s, England, Italy, Austria, Savoy, and the Commonwealth were all in a giant alliance of death against me, so there was almost nothing I could do. I colonised America, but then they broke free! I spent the last 10 - 15 hours of the game just waiting for 1820 to come.

>Third Game: Portugal again

Decided to give it another whirl this time. Instead of going for Castille, I went for Morroco. Got a good chunk of land too - the whole coast, from Mellila to Infi. No sooner than I had started coring them, and then BAM! 50,000 separatists crush my army, set me back to square one, and put me into bankruptcy. Again.

Why am I so bad at this game? What do I keep doing wrong, that if I don't give up hope of expanding, I go bankrupt and am torn apart? How is it possible to do well in this game!? Please send help!

Doesn't laying claim on provinces prevent that from happening? (Right click the province, and select 'Claim X Province') I'm guessing you've done that though, and Greece gets the provinces anyway. Anons, for the past year I've been working on the engines and tool necessary for me to develop a Grand Strategy game set in space.

My final engine + tools will be geared toward procedurally generated universe with adjustable levels of realism (i.e. habitable planets etc). I'm aiming for billions of celestial bodies.

I originally started development because I always wanted to play Hearts of Iron and Victoria in SPACE. And then Paradox announced their own game, so fuck them I'll make a better one.

I also want to put in events and event sequences with criteria and randomness.

I also want to put in random alien races and cultures.

I want some ideas on direction.

for space? thats not enough, or are you going to put "space, i dont need to explain shit" as excuse? i guess at least ten times that is better if you want to stay strict to travel physics. you could fit 1000y by managing the teletrasport for some race, light speed for others whatever space shit for the rest eben claiming black holes vortex

>One thing I want to implement is culture and societal shifts. I'm thinking there should be some kind of ability for the player to shift things towards a direction. I'm thinking this could be a triangle or a square, with each corner representing some aspect of society.

>Opposing corners are opposing societal views / types. So like Liberal / Conservative (but probably worded differently. Social / Private sort of deal.

this should be the base of any gsg, look at hoi3and4….you will never have the possibility to drift germany into a peaceful commie country. for political reason i suggest you could make a esaedorn so you have 6 corners opposite eachother to fit in it other shape of gray from different idealogy to give more freedome to the player.

>The player can spend some sort of currency, like Social-Points or whatever, on pushing toward one of the corners.

>How they actually gain these points… I'm not sure. I'm thinking it would be a steady income. The amount of income depends on the government type. So a democracy gets a lot less social points than a theocracy; illustrating the limited ability of a democracy to affect society and culture (considering you're elected based on society and culture); perhaps techs like "Social-Engineering" and "Social-Media Influence" will net a democracy more points.

i think that a percentage would work better, like if you are always at war, or lower your tax or do lot of experiment will give you a tick towarPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Did you know that in EU4 if you do random new world it can occasionally generate Jewish Kingdoms in the New World?

Strange. Well what Paradox is trying to explain is that the so-called Negroes, Mestizos, and Native Americans are the true Israelites. Notice how White people enjoy playing Paradox. And how early in the game it is filled wars with wars and revolutions and civil strife in Europe?

That is how the White man, esau rose into power. They were the serfs of Europe and they started having rebellions and taking over in high places as Israelites died off from… THE BLACK PLAGUE.

One of the first Nations to become Edomite was Spain. By 1700 all European nations were Edomite ruled and majority. Israelites came to the New World as either slaves, indentured Servants, or were conquered. An example of indentured Servants that are Israelites are the Pennsylvania Germans named the so-called Black Dutch along with the Irish. You can witness in EU4 England when King James was overthrowned, who was a Black man, the English invaded Ireland.

This is what Paradox is trying to tell you. EU4 is the fall of Jacob and the rise of Esau that is why either White Israelites (There are plenty of Israelites that think they are Edomites and a lot of them today are White Nationalist, such as George Lincoln Rockwell or Louis Beam) or Edomites like playing it.
