i hate how you can only support the ruling party of your own country and not the party you actually want. is there a way to change parties of your own country? i play as brazil and i wish it were fascist. i put in fascist in many of the seats that i could but it does nothing.

the whole politics thing in HOI3 is useless

You can't just change your own ideology. HOI3 is not a sandbox game where you can do whatever you feel like for no reason or justification.

Brazil was paternal autocrat, not fascist. You can encourage fascism by not supporting your own party and by cozying up to Italy/Japan and hoping they send spies your way to influence your people.

Spies are the only tried-and-true method I know of to change ideologies. If it's not a nation like the US/France, you can flip their political party to whatever you want if you give it enough time.

As Germany, supporting the National-Socialist parties, I can get Brazil to straight Nat-Soc by ~1939. Depends on how the RNG wants to treat you.

If I was Japan? I could do it much faster, since Fascism is closer to paternal autocrat. Not sure how much faster, though.

show me your ways, time traveler. so the only way for brazil to become national socialist is by sending spies to support germany's party and hope that they do the same for you? won't your spies just get killed by counterespionage?

No, you just have to hope the AI prioritizes you for their spies, and for some reason the AI tends to heavily favour supporting their own party and tech espionage.

So, typically, my strategy is to send spies at Germany/USA depending on which way I want to push the country, and then you can track wether or not countries of certain ideologies are trying to change your shit if you go into 'Politics' then scroll over 'Organization' and see 'Spies: ##'

If this is going up, that means a country of the party's ideology is influencing you.

In your case, you'd want this to be the National-socialist bar if you're trying to become national socialist, so try sending some spies at germany while also doing non-negligible trades with them as often as possible, should entice them to prioritize you as one of their targets to pull into the axis. sometimes the AI can be finicky, and I don't know any other real ways of changing my own ideology.

I'm very used to being Italy/Germany/etc and then flipping OTHER nations to fascism/national socialism, which is very fun, to be honest. I play germany all the time now and just try to flip continents and stuff like the USA/sweden/south africa to National Socialism before the big war for extra lulz

It's pretty much a crapshoot, and as brazil I know for a fact that the USA is going to try to influence you as well as the UK and likely france

In other words, fuck playing anything south american/minor that isn't in europe

That's perfectly valid in my opinion. I just always have a hard time playing Brazil, if you're running blackice just try to lower your neutrality ASAP and send spies at germany, and hope they prioritize you

in game i have brazil to have neutrality at 0% because of some option i chose early in game. "prepare for war" i think. it lowers your neutrality by .2 a day. i can declare war on anyone at any time who isn't in my faction but i currently have my hands full with USA and canada
