GUI was horrible, game crashed and burned like a bane plane, and when I did actually get to play didn't understand anything even after the tutorial.

You have to fumble around and get used to it, it's a finnicky duct-taped engine. You'll want to tear your hair out in major combat situations, especially.
But it's fun, especially for things like the posters have done above. I picked Nigeria and built a fuckton of oil wells and didn't realize how much the actual materials would cost, and didn't know building materials themselves aren't infinite, as they are produced in factories.
Needless to say, Nigeria quickly went bankrupt and I learned to get good. I wish the AI was better, though.
