Okay, so new EU IV player here trying out Castile. I've played a bit of CK2 (about 25 hours).

Here's what I don't get:

>Recently conquered Granada.

>Core Almeria

>Separatism prevents me from changing the culture

>EUIV Wiki states that separatism only happens to non-core provinces

>Almeria is core'd, so why can't I change the culture?

Is there any real advantage to changing the culture anyway? I assumed it would help with lowering unrest, since separatists are my rebel factions there.

Tried to upload a picture explaining.

The wiki seems to be a little unclear, what it means is that if it's your core before you conquer it, then you won't get separatism. However, if you have to create a core on it after you conquer it, then yes, there will be speratism. Culture conversion is worth it on a case-by-case basis - it your empire is composed of enough pronvinces of one non-accepted culture, it'll eventually cross a threshold and become accepted. However, in your case, since Granada has only a few provinces, there's not enough to make their culture accepted. In this case, it's probably a good idea to convert them once the seperatism wears off.

Thanks man!

That makes sense. I will wait till the separatism wears off.

You'll have to wait for the seperatism to go away (takes fucking years) but certain government types reduce it, I think absolute monarchy is one of them that does.

HOWEVER if the culture of the region is the same as a nation that exists, you won't be able to change it until the country no longer exists. For example, if you took a region with an Austrian culture, you wouldn't be able to change it as long as Austria is a country.

Thanks. Yeah I basically let it go away naturally.

Most of my culture is either Castialian or Accepted, so I'm okay for now.

I actually formed Spain awhile ago. I set out to colonize the New World.

How do you impose tariffs? Since the lowest autonomy is 75%, I barely get any taxes from my colonies, even the ones that the "supposed" tax is going to be like 3.0 gold.

I read that trade is the way to make money with the colonies, and that you can do that with tariffs. I have Conquest of Paradise DLC if that's needed.

Any ideas?

Here's a picture of the map if anyone's interested how it's going.

Okay, so sorry for the double post, but I'm having a weird problem now:

Any time the map moves, there's almost like, screen tearing. Likes frames dropping. It's not lag, and it's not FPS drops. I have a computer that can more than run the game (i7, 8GB RAM, gtx 980)

So far, I've tried the following:

- Beta version

- Verify Integrity

- Uninstall/Reinstall

- Disable multi-monitors

- Turn all settings off and drop resolution

Nothing has worked so far. Also I play the same save on my laptop (which has inferior specs) and no issues.

I'm thinking it's a hard drive issue maybe? Running it off a 1TB HDD that's about 200GB to being full.

Disregard both. I figured out tariffs are a colonial nation thing. I just formed the Spanish West Indies so now I get it.

Also disregard stuttering. Restarting computer fixed it.
