How are the older GSG games, such as the first two EU and Hearts of Iron games, or the first Crusader Kings and Victoria? Is there anything they have that the sequels do not, or do they do anything better?

I remember being very disapointed in Vic2. So I think I found the original to be superior back in the day and forgot why. Because I am rarely wrong when it comes to vidya, you should give it a shot.

Also, CK1 had better portraits and less bullshit.

CK1 also was more in depth with religion and it was actually possible to get former kings beatified and become saints if they were pious enough.

I grew up on CK1. I actually still have the collector's edition, i can say it influenced me to be the gamer I am today.

So much infant mortality and instances of harelip, but I powered through as the duke of antioch->emperor of byzantium+king of russia

an epic game that can probably stand up today if people have been making mods for it

also try for the glory and europe universalis 3 along with HOI2/darkest hour

I play hoi3 or darkest hour depending on if I want autistic OOB management or autistic kaiserreich/FODD map painting fun

How often would you play with the division of power for the provinces? when I tried it a long time ago I never messed with them because I wasn't quite sure what to do with them.
