Is Conclave shit?

It has some nice features, but there's the feminist bullshit with 'the status of women' and, worst of all, the shattered retreat. "Oh, I defeated an army. Better go after it across half the map! Getting attritioned the entire time!"

>the shattered retreat. "Oh, I defeated an army. Better go after it across half the map! Getting attritioned the entire time!"

Isnt it how it worked irl?

IRL the largest amount of casualties came after a rout, as the enemy cavalry charged into the backs of the fleeing infantry and either massacred or captured them. Also, the vast amount of the infatry were just levies - peasants who came with their wood axes and hunting knives. Can't imagine such peasants going over half the country to regroup, rather than just saying 'fuck it, nobody will notice I'm missing, I'm going home'. Of course, that is assuming a total defeat of enemy army (which is what always happens anyway, as armies in Paradox Games fight bravely until a total rout).

 No.5046

Meh. One the one hand diplomacy is more dynamic w favors and the like, plus the council system is alright.

But like

>>5003

said there's some womyn's equality XDDDD thrown in and shattered retreats don't make much sense.

I haven't played far enough yet to see the coalition stuff come into effect though.

 No.5051

It's absolutely nothing but bloat.

 No.5052

Conclave, combined with shattered retreat and coalitions, has ruined the game for me. It has become extremely easy to increase your power through legislation, and I hardly ever see an HRE which is not an absolute monarchy within 80 years now.

Conclave allows you to exclude all the most powerful vassals from joining factions for most of the game. Shattered retreat causes fewer casualties. The result is that factions hardly ever become threatening. The only time you might feel exposed, is during regencies or when you choose to allow factions.

So instead of making the game harder by making factions more powerful and challenging, the game is now easier on the interior level. The limiting factor is now just the anachronistic and tedious coalition system.
