I've tried and still try to use male, female, and intersex to refer to physical sex, and man, woman, (whatever else) to refer to gender, but a lot of people don't pick up on it and think I'm using woman/female, man/male interchangeably, which is frustrating when discussing trans topics. I find it nice to have terms like AMAB and AFAB to be absolutely precise (and those terms usually include intersex people), but I still have to explain what they mean to people who aren't familiar with gender stuff.
