So, as you know, there are sites that collect HCG's, but I wondered about the next level, recordings.
So what makes recording H-Scenes an economical idea, you ask.
1. Low amount of change between dialogue means a (relatively) low file size, for instance
The GIF I have attached is 7MB in video format (I record 64k voices, but I'll get to that in a bit.) the GIF itself is 1/7th of the video file, a huge difference.
You might be asking why size is even important at all, well for that, I was thinking a mega-collection torrent or whatever you call it,
For now the scope of this idea is for english releases only, even that is an extremely large task.
So, GIF vs Video, first I'll go into my recording setup…
OBS, 10 QB (Quality Balance), Unlimited Bitrate, 30FPS (output flv)
GifCam, 1FPS (I wish I could set it to lower than that, but..) (Output gif) (By the way the GIF is 7 minutes)
Now, GIFs do not have the capability of videos, sound, time seeking, so even though t saves a lot of space, it is impractical, for now.
For GIFs to become a practical alternative, you would need a program that plays a gif, and two different audio tracks, and has seek function with synced audio, of course, very much doubt something like that exists. pity.
And so, video is the (practical) solution,
I record the scene with 64k voices and music turned off, then record the associated music with 128k in a separate file
1. this lowers the filesize by a large amount
2. it enables free control over voice/music balance
I do not have any averages for H-scenes per visual novel. Their length is usually between 7 and 15 minutes.
And so, I ask you, is there a demand for H-scene recordings, or is a pipe dream?
(Also, sorry if this is the wrong board, it's fairly relevant.)
