Freenet is not safe. Due to its design, the more content you download the greater you are at risk of discovery. LEA collects packets and determines which next nearest neighbor is sending illegal content and connects to it. LEA then repeats this process. Each time it determines the next nearest neighbor, it reduces the distance between the source and the you by 1 node. LEA repeats this process until it is directly connected to the you and then it has your ip address.

Glad to see some people want to use more than just plain TOR. There are other "privacy enhanced" networks out there and freenet is only one. I2P and GnuNet are the others that quickly come to mind.

Yes freenet is secure (kinda) and there is more content than you could ever want on it, not much new content but tons of old classics. The caveat is that it can super slow.

I used to use it but it became too much of an addiction to the content so I wiped and physically destroyed all of the hard drives to break the habit.

The primary thing that makes freenet insecure (and the part that recently got exploited by police) is that there aren't many people using it. The overall design is quite secure and that is also what makes it quite slow.

The main things to make sure you are as secure as possible is to make sure you have a lot of peers and also don't download hordes of content all at once.

Also, a gentle reminder, nothing is ever completely secure.

On the Start page, you should see a menu and some content. The first part of the content is a list of "Directories of websites on Freenet". You are probably interested in unfiltered stuff, so Linkageddon might lead you into the direction you are looking for.

This directory is updated from time to time (Last time was 17.Nov). From that point on, you can go to all kinds of pages with all kinds of content. Some links go directly to freepages with content, others go to special Directorys. Linkageddon gives warnings like "Index of some freesites that may contain underage material." If you don't like that, you don't klick the link.

Another way to get into freenet are different discussion forums. You find info about this in the menu of the start page or with google. Frost, for example, is a large forum system which has to be installed as a separate software.

Freenet is as save as it can be today. It might be possible for a secret service to follow and analyse the full traffic and to guess what you are loading but they never would compromise this capability by going behind some unimportant lurker.

The weak spot of freenet is, that someone gets access to your computer while it is running. You can encrypt everything with truecrypt but this is open while freenet is running. Freenet is slow, so you need to run it for longer periods of time.

Freenet is like internet without google.

You can store what ever you like into the net. You get a key and this key is the only way to load the file.

Some people are creating web pages and announce them with the key on Directorys like Linkageddon. Others are publishing the keys in forums like Frost. I'm sure there are also lots of dark pages which are only known to a small number of insiders.

It takes some time to load and read the Frost forums. There are some Fan-Pages which are collecting everything from certain models and if you are lucky, you find something about Evy.

On the other hand, those NN-models can be found on the normal web. Did you look for this on sharechan.org? There are tons of links to TMTV and Silver-whatever Sets.

No, I mean I'm not sure if there is much from Evy at all. The TMTV and Silver stuf is relatively new, it is available all over the places and the files are pretty big.

Freenet is best for older sets which are hard to find on the usual places.

I just saw a page with Custom sets and pics that didn't make it into the sets for some reason.
