Don't want to get too much into it but as a young lad I did not partake in smoking and/or drug consumption even though most of my family did

I have an Uncle who was a drug seller of anything he could get his hands on and also had a 11yo female cousin who I was very close with. She started smoking marijuana at the very young age of 11. I'm unsure what caused her to become so curious by it but at around 9yo I used to help her sneak cigarettes when her mom was asleep and then we would sneak out the house and I'd watch her smoke. The year after we would offer to throw away any alcoholic beverages from parties or any time really - We'd be quick to supply the adults with a fresh beer and we'd take the one that was almost finished. We would pour the excess into one container and she would drink it

Then at 11yo she called me over one day to go over her house. I ran over (a few blocks) and she showed me a little tiny cigarette. I knew what it was because my Uncle was never shy about showing all the kids the "feel good" cigarette he uses. I immediately felt scared if anyone would find out then we both realized the house always smelled like weed as it is so nobody would even know the difference

She lit up the small marijuana on the stove and we went to the backyard where we would always go in times like these. She smoked the whole thing and pretty soon she was feeling really good. It would hit her like a ton of bricks and soon afterwards she would always take a nap.

I guess this is where I must confess I joined her in these activities because when she was passed out drunk or taking a nap from being too high - I would molest my cousin. Years went by and we never spoke a word. She always thanked me for looking after her while she was out and wake up giving me a kiss and a hug. I'm unsure if she knew I was touching her but from our awkward exchanges when she woke up I'm sure she knew something

Smoking and drugs as a youth isn't always a sign of a bad childhood. I understand this. But from personal experience it sure is a grand sign that something went horribly wrong. The child is looking for some kind of outlet because they are unable to speak and words would just do more damage than the filth they are putting into their bodies to forget.

Would it surprise you to know that 70 % of all smokers are women, and that number is increasing ? In their teens the percentage is much closer but males realize the health concerns and quit. Females being the weaker sex simply can't quit and as they age some end up on oxygen with Emphysema and other lung diseases .
