While the laws are worded to include clothed erogenous areas very few courts will prosecute a picture of a clothed child unless there is sexual contact. Context and intent do matter. No one will prosecute a doctor or a police officer for having pictures of CP if it is for a case or legitimate reason.

Five years is the maximum for each count, so if you are charged with 10 pictures you could face 50 years. I don't know why "club fed" would be involved for possession- that would be a state thing. If the pictures have nudity sexual conduct laws come into play and that means any pose, display or demeanor that may arouse or inflame desire- which is a crock of shit because who knows what arouses you? But the thing about a vulgar display of the genitals is pretty straightforward, as are the laws about simulated sexual acts or real ones. If you go to trial DO NOT choose a jury. You are correct that they will just think you are a pervert. Let a judge decide your fate. Judges are the only people qualified to pass judgement anyway and they have to follow the law instead of their hearts. Many technicalities can cast a shadow of doubt. A judge must be 100% sure before convicting you. We can all bitch and moan that the laws are overly severe for just looking at some pictures of people you don't even know and who don't even know you exist, but the fact is if you are going to be a GL you are going to pay for that belief in some way, shape or form during your lifetime.
