That's patently false. If anything, I'd say the opposite is true. People often don't bother memorising things anymore, instead relying on search engines and other kinds of digital databases. The invention of personal computers, portable music players and smartphones has made us less aware of our surroundings, more alienated than ever from the world and the people around us.

I agree with you. He's pretty wrong on that count, but I didn't write it. The rest of what he said was accurate to me hence why I included it. It's the underlying message that mattered to me. Him being wrong on that is one of the things I hoped to change.
