Accidental Woman is an interactive fiction life sim game for adults. It's built in Twine Sugarcube, and can be played on most OSes and smartphones. In the game, you take the role of a recently single and unemployed man who takes the offer of a longtime friend to move to the secluded town of Appletree. Due to an unfortunate accident, you find yourself completely transformed into a woman, and will have to deal with far more than just transitioning to small-town life!

No.113850

>>113844

We got enough bitch-ass complainers like yourself so I guess we got that going.

So in the NL thread I'm the one suggesting/asking when we'll get a AW thread. This is good. A bit early, to be honest, but good. I mean, I'm super hyped about the possibilities of this game from the character creation (loved it, still barebones to what the guy can do from first impressions, though) to the options (from taste in characters to the mentality traits) and lastly to the dev being real cool about extra writers, including content that SO would NEVER include and just his past pedigree. So I'm down with this one. This is the game I'll keep my eyes on. The guy seems open to what Newlife should've been. Doesn't shy away from forced/rape content. How he writes it will be the true test.

So with this being the 1st thread can we all get everyone complaining about the whole game being character creation and nothing else cause it's still early in development? Cause that's gonna be a recurring theme until we see what the dev pops out for the first update. Now I don't mean all the framework he's putting in but actual story/sex scenes. We're not there yet, for sure, but when that day comes I hope to God it shuts anyone dogging on him and makes his Patreon worth it. Cause let's admit it right now, no idiot does this shit for free when they can get money and y'all delusional if you think someone should white Knight his days away so we can fap for free (which we already do cause some guy here will fork over money and drop the Patreon version anyway).

But if it all turns to shit and he drops it or gets greedy…well, I'll remember how excited I was and realize what I'm doing with my life is questionable.

Couldn't this general be combined with the Newlife general?

I mean they're pretty identical games, at least gameplay wise so far

Just like the COC general has TITs in it, the ERA games thread has tons of games in it and Trap Quest has Diaper quest in it

Wouldn't it make sense to have games with identical gameplay be in the same thread?

No.113897

I know not everything is alright in the head of a tranny fetishist, but come on now. Adding meaningless placeholders that imply future features is textbook method for baseless promises without any obligations to actually deliver. The user can only blame themselves if they imagined anything would come out of it.

This non-game has been carefully designed to tickle the fancies of the target audience without havign to deliver anything. And it has worked splendidly. Clearly the author knew what he was doing.

Yeah, it's the large department store that has everything you'd expect. It has the player's first experience with buying clothes, has a small pharmacy for an introduction there, and also has a hair salon and optometrist to give players their first chance to change their hair style and wear glasses. (there will be better salons, and a "Sunglass Slut" in town) It's also something of a test for how I want to build the game maps. First is the travel mechanic, where the game figures out how you get from A to B, and can trigger any location-specific events, as well as describe your trip. Next is map events, which come in two flavors "major" and "minor". Minor are mostly flavor events, major are either things like running into an NPC you've met, or a friend, game-world related stuff (like finding a line of people camping out to buy the new Pear iJackit smart device.) and finally some of the seasonal things related to the Institute and mysteries of Appletree.

So, to answer your question, I don't have any BIG storyline stuff planned specifically for Bullseye, though some of it could occur there. I DO however have some minor things planned for the location. One, which is a hook into a exhibition/voyeurism and cum play storyline is already in place, and there are more planned. (such as a pharmacist who you can talk into hooking you up with certain contraception-related goods, and a changing room blackmail event involving a camera and an electronics department employee…)

In New Life i allways found it annoying how there's barely any descriptions going on and most that do are just about the size of the dick in action which makes it feel kinda… i dunno, mechanical? soulless like there's only the action but not much more "in-depth" descriptions of the scenes going on.

Many people flak SO for being a prude and i have to agree BUT for the moment on pretty much every one of these kind of games from CoC to NL or GL there's nothing else to the game than banging or being banged by as many people as possible like it's fucking normal.

Too much excessive sex without fuck'all behind it is just booooo~ring.

>Except you can finish CoC and NL being a virgin (GL has no ending)

Yeah but there's not much content in doing so.

Well in New Life maybe there's more if you stick to one boyfriend but on CoC if you just stay pure and chaste you miss most of the content as the game is clearly made so that to "enjoy" all of it you have to fuck or get fucked by everything that moves apart from maybe demons as those raise your corruption level.

Even if it's possible it's not much fun when there's fuck all to do other than maybe grind levels/skills that mostly serve to gateway some sex scenes tied to high levels.

A game that's centered about multiple aspects of sex is obviously going to miss content if you choose not to pursue those aspects.

If there's 20 "waifu"s in a game and you choose to only sex up one, then obviously you're missing out on 19/20th worth of content assuming they have equal content.

I'm not sure what you're expecting.

It's like playing a 4X game and then complain you miss out on content because you only want to trade in that game… What are you expecting?

Yeah it's gonna be a game centered on you having sex but man fuck maybe it's just my shitty thing but for me it just feels empty if the sole goal there is is to fuck around as much as possible especially if there's no depth or real drawbacks to it.

Okay that's fair enough. So basically you criticize that games like these build "wide" and not "tall" (You may not be familiar with these terms if you haven't played games similar to civ)

Criticizing the point that there's a lot of NPC's in games like these but not much to them. That's a good point, but that's not how I interpreted your first message.

The problem is simple; it's easy to make a lot of NPC that have a "Lets grind some progress until you can fuck and then you move on to another NPC". Making one in-depth with a backstory and having an NPC actually have character takes a different kind of writer.

Moreover, we're talking about devs that either write in russian and get machine translated or badly translated (That even with good translation will feel empty)

Or we get devs like Fenoxo and SO that spend 1 hour work for 5K a month.

I find it weird though. Because erotic games aren't new. Game developers have been around from before I was born and human creativity existed before fire was discovered.

Where does it all go wrong?

No.114306

Personally I think H-games have come as far as it needs to go, and all it will do from now on is continue to devolve. They will become walking simulators with no engaging gameplay. And there will be constant complaints from new-fags that the game is too hard, and want freshly written cheat engine guides despite it being decades old

I've still yet to see the effects of 'good writing' in porn. The most I ever see is some really good vanilla porn stories, but those are just a light read and not erotic. I am not even aroused by legitimate suffering either.

If not:

>Personally I think H-games have come as far as it needs to go

I completely disagree. There are barely any, if any, that show any sign of progress after fucking. Usually that is the end of the story for that NPC.

There's no such thing as slowly becoming a real date person and then eventually husband/wife material.

There's a ton you can do, like with your bf/gf having issues at work and their boss/colleague trying to get in their pants and you have the chance to fend them off or let it happen etc.

The latter is there in some games, but on the most basic level imaginable. You can make some really serious things happen and with good gameplay, happen like the player intended them to, with bad gameplay, have things go to pieces for them is fine. (going to the gym to be able to beat up someone or fucking around with someone else and then lose your GF/BF completely etc (And not (necessarily) in the rape way as its usually done))

No, it can go a lot deeper than what it is, I think.

I am >>114323 and was a separate anon. The idea of roleplaying these scenarios is neat, but I'd have to see these things actually being made to be convinced otherwise. Writing has stagnated and a lot of people are just impatient to get to the fucking. And things that aren't dependant on writing has very little room for growth, as the required effort to provide a greater experience than what we have now is too much.

I've gotten my fill of unnecessary grind for dating in Sims 3 porn mods and EraTW. Having to actually deal with relaitonships sounds like a drag, how is that even erotic?

No.114346

>>114305

My problem is substance more than anything. You can only be a slut in Fenoxo's games to actually get content, and being a slut just for being a slut really stops being a turn on after 5 minutes into the enormous amounts of walls of text.

The world is pretty much "empty", there are no real issues to be solved, everyone thinks of fucking 24/7, their preferences include EVERYTHING (yours too, your only response is positive, all the time) but that pretty much renders everything over the top vanilla, you're a husk that can't actually have any type of personality since the only thing you can really do is fuck, fuck and fuck some more, again, with the only answer being "Yeah, I totally love this!", there are no real consequences, there are no regrets, not even one ounce of negative emotions, there's no change, the character's the same most of the time with some scenes where it's clear there were multiple writers, meaning that you sometimes see some dissonance.

This is what I mean when I say there's no "substance". Nothing has any meaning, nothing TRIES to have any meaning, that works if say, I'm playing something like DOOM, where I can enter and just start slaughtering masses of demons for fun, but if I'm trying to get aroused and have a nice fap, I'm not going to get anywhere with this shit.

>If you dont let others add scenes and npcs then you're just an attention faggot

I honestly agree a lot more with you, but the latter also has a lot of merit to it. I mentioned in another thread here on 8ch that I'm looking for opinions and when I expressed my consideration of making a closed source game, someone went totally bonkers.

People are hard to please. But if anything, I think things like Newlife will become a huge mess with everyone bringing in their own "quality" stories into it now (Not like there's much there in the first place, but if there was and people come up with a large "variety of quality" events then people like you get pissed off.

If you don't allow that, then people get pissed off that you make it closed source to make sure the quality is consistent.

It is just… You can't really have best of both worlds (Although in new life's example it's probably worst of both worlds anyway, it was a very poor example but the most recent one where people can add in their own stuff now)

About adding scenes from outside.

Working in tandem or you know, edit the scene yourself, are the two only options.

If your game is based on personality options (e.g. just some extra variables), then it becomes easier to add scenes.

To be fair, you need to be quite interested to actually make something worthwhile, if you're in it only for the money and it's just a chore for you to do this, then it's clear that your product will not be that great when you meet up with some obstacles like these (writing isn't easy), but there are methods to write "objectively", e.g. see Era games, when using training commands the only things that changes usually (Tohok) are the adjectives mostly based on variables like skill and how much you like the person in question, something Newlife does not do, instead, to me it seems Newlife chooses from a bunch of random phrases and sticks with those no matter what, unless you lack certain personality choices, and your relationship with the characters only gives you the opportunity to use new commands but they don't really change much. Tohok for example, gives you dialogue based on relationship (mostly, never saw on skill, but TW does that) and commands that change flavor text (mostly adjectives) based on your relationship/skill/status of the individual.

I think someone should send Eratohok, EraTW and Eramegaten to this author and have him take references.

You should also think of nuances. Some options might couple up well with others or you can extend personality choices to be more of a spectrum when it comes to acts.

E.g. a dumb example, if you have an option to dislike futas, then having a threesome with a futa and a woman might be impossible, or you won't have as many options or have it so that with repeating the scenes, you start to no longer dislike (corruption but for character traits, can easily be turned OFF in options, but this type of nuance can make shit a lot more enjoyable, the way I see it).

tl;dr at bottom

>>114382

The nuance thing is good food for thought but throwing in so many variables (Depending on genders, preferences, perhaps forced (drunk/drugs/blackmail etc)) starts to get complicated really fast. Especially with the modifiers for the game in the OP.

>Working in tandem or you know, edit the scene yourself, are the two only options.

There's no way a single person can keep up with "community driven contribution" especially if it gets popular.

>If your game is based on personality options (e.g. just some extra variables), then it becomes easier to add scenes.

I would really like to make it a bit more personalized than "Oh by the way, you like his big balls because of your pregnancy fetish!", come up with 20 ways to describe that sentence and use one at random for every scene for a guy with big balls.

Because that's exactly what Newlife feels like for me. It makes scenes feel very generic. Going out with one selfish prick is the same as going out with a different selfish prick in Newlife. Sure one is chubby and the other likes big breasts… There are at least some traits that provide variety (Such as impregnators trying to sabotage your contraceptives)… But almost all of it feels very generic because, once again, one impregnator is the same as the other.

>To be fair, you need to be quite interested to actually make something worthwhile, if you're in it only for the money and it's just a chore for you to do this, then it's clear that your product will not be that great when you meet up with some obstacles like these (writing isn't easy)

My plan is to - at best/worst (Depending on your view of these things) - have a donation system where I encourage people to donate only AFTER they feel like they've enjoyed it.

So they enjoyed it for a few weeks, perhaps that's worth 2-5 bucks for them. The next time they come back and they like the new content, then do the same.

I strongly discourage people to shell out money "in hopes" it motivates devs to work on the game, or to make it go faster. The opposite has proven true for many, many patreon games.

With the method I suggested (And will suggest if I ever get this off the ground…) there would be no regrets because you paid for what you already got and not what you may or may not get in the future.

It's less greedy and 100% safe from the customers perspective. Yes you get paid less. But I quoted your sentence to make a point that I do this for fun and not money.

Time is of no concern to me. I don't need to demand $500 (cough Accidental Woman) before I start a game that's remotely playable.

If it ever gets off the ground and I prove to the people that I can actually write adequately and bring out content at a steady pace, then perhaps I'd introduce a Patreon system. But unlike others, I want to earn my worth first.

tl;dr Do it for fun, people only pay for what they already got (If they want to), no one loses anything.

You're Ethical concerns basically amount to the idea that the creator of LT is jewing people with the latest compiled version that can only be gotten by being a patreon or through great effort. Except it can be gotten without being a patreon and with no effort.

The difference between your complaints about microtransactions for Thing X that stems from people's experience with online f2p and p2w games is that those systems do not let you get said Thing X easily, often through extra Hours, Weeks or Months of grinding to make up for it, if it's even possible (that's how they get people to pay, that's how the jewing works), and they may ban you, punish you if you some how hack your way into doing it and find out.

Whereas with LT, you are given a simple list of instructions on how to get Thing X for free that doesn't take you Hours, Weeks or Months of grinding, and not only that, but YOU CAN GET IT INSTANTLY, FOR FREE, WITH NO EFFORT AT ALL were ANYONE to compile and link it. So it looks like the game is not garbage even though obviously it is.

I just realized you're probably too retarded to have even understood what preview builds are

Preview build =/= full release

The full build is released every other week on the blog for everyone at the same time. Preview builds (unfinished, buggy PREVIEWS of the final full update) are released to Patrons, and at the same time the github is updated so non-patrons can compile the preview for themselves.

Your dad should have either hit you less or way, way more.

No, that is what you do to push someone towards supporting you economically. It's called an incentive.

>Pushing towards Patreon would be barring the preview builds completely behind a paywall.

Somehow you're changing page and saying that the preview builds are so valuable (you said they're trashy, buggy versions and that they don't matter) that having them into the open changes the fact that their compilation is an incentive for you to pay on Patreon.

It's free to have a grave, but only if you dig it yourself, in the forest.

It doesn't matter if they're "valuable" or not, just to be sure you understand that.

That's not accounting for the physical factors of both the PC and the NPC(s) in a given scene. Even if you assume only 1/100 of the combinations matter for a given scene, that's 3^18/100 or 3874204 possible permutations. You need to develop code to automatically handle, say, 90% of those, which is going to be a massive undertaking; then you need to hand-write or hand-code the remaining 387420 combinations.

Even if you assume it's more like 1/10000 of the possible combinations, that's still 387420 and 3874 respectively. If you think that's going to be done any time in the next decade, you're a madman.

>When you reach Bullseye, click on different locations on the map to travel to the place you clicked.

>Added descriptions to Bullseye map locations, room view, and some story hooks. Locations will look a little bland until the descriptive widgets are build.

>Several bug fixes. (Including reworking several objects/arrays, age/height thresholds, and an issue with libido.)

>Updated the Debug Page, which now has a java-based bug reporting tool and variable checker. The bug report tool generates a report for you, making it easier.

>Implemented a game settings menu: changed content restriction settings to be toggled from that menu instead of being set once near the start of the game. Should allow more control for players in the future.

>Added a second light-colored theme that can be switched to from the settings menu. Still having some problems with getting JavaScript and CSS to play nice inside of Twine, but it's a (very basic) start.

>Added the Clothing Generators, including adding them to the Bulleye women's clothing department.

No.115476

>>115473

Mmm I don't think you have to put up all the conditions on every single part of an event. You can have a hundred attributes and still pull it off if you manage to apply those attributes to events when it matters.

You don't have to show every single sentence how much you like how tall he is while he's pounding you. You don't have to think to yourself how much you'd like to impregnate someone while having a discussion at lunch in school. You don't have to let the teacher know how much of a nasty person you are while he's teaching class.

If you want to do it right you're probably better off with minor and major attributes (A character's personality being a major attribute while liking to wear heels a minor one for example)

You don't have to think of >>115353's 3^18 possible combination for every time you walk down a hallway.

Intro shopping area and clothing generator

More info from his blog for the next stuff

Immediate Plans:

I'm going to do a little review on the map system code, and tidying up the open portion of the shopping code. If I catch any bugs, I'll fix them. I haven't gotten any bug reports thus far, so I should be able to put out the public release of 01.9 earlier than I expected.

Next Few Days:

My emergency trip to Ohio is coming to a close, and it's time to get back home and on a more normal schedule. I'm leaving ridiculously early Friday morning, and will be arriving Saturday night. (After accounting for different time zones, it's a 32-hour trip.) This basically means a huge chunk of time with nothing else to do but work on Accidental Woman.

My main focus for the next few days will be putting together a style guide for clothing, creating the FAQ/Content document, and writing the rest of the morning dialogue with Lily. I think it's worth working on these rather than diving immediately back into coding. I think a style guide is important, because it allows players to imagine or picture what a clothing item looks like in their head. For a descriptive game like this one, mental imagery is critical.

The FAQ/Content document is important for a few reasons. First, there are a lot of questions about content. I want to write out the list of content that a) I will definitely add, b) that I want to add if time allows, and c) I can't add myself. For the game in general, I'm starting to see more "repeat" questions. I took some time answering early questions, because I figured I could add the answers to this planned FAQ, which would be useful for everyone. I don't have time to answer repeat questions, or write an entire answer for slightly more specific or slightly different answers. By putting the FAQ together, I can focus more on the game without feeling like I'm ignoring anyone, and I'll be able to give briefer answers to more specific questions by referring to the FAQ. (And add the answers to the FAQ.) I have plans written out for AW, so it makes answering questions easy, but it still takes time to type the answers.

After That:

I'll start working on code again, finish the shopping and wardrobe system, and then do some of the prologue writing with Lily and your tour of Appletree. It's a crazy place, so I'm kind of excited to set the scene.

You mean the partially translated autistic mess with all the playability and narrative appeal of DF?

I wouldn't call that "finished", nor would I call it good.

No.115676

>>115476

That depends on how detailed you want your descriptions. If you want Zork or Nethack style "narration", then you're absolutely correct.

However, if you want to narrate an actual person, that includes what they think about, daydream about, what they see or don't see, notice or don't notice - no, not every scene is going to hinge on every variable, but if we're being honest with ourselves, here, the vast majority of the scenes that actually interest people are going to be sexual, where those factors come a lot more into play.

You can ignore a lot of them, at the cost of narrative depth, but then what's the point of having them? My point is that you can't make all of those variables actually matter without the cost becoming untenable. The alternative, of course, is to make the descriptions, actions, and so forth all relatively generic, but then the game's either going to be a bunch of generic scenes that feel the same regardless of your character, or you'll be locked out of 90% of the content because you don't fit the criteria. There are lots of wrinkles and special cases depending on very particular combinations of characteristics. You can ignore them, but that makes RPing as that particular character bland and unfulfilling.

I frankly think AW is either a cynical attempt to divert support away from SO without any real intent of delivering a better game, or a very naive programmer is about to bite off way more than he can chew. Either way, the odds of this living up to the promise are about the same as the odds of No Man's Sky being patched into something worth buying.

I've played Era. It's tedious as all fuck even by /hgg/ standards.

The playerbase is tiny for a reason; even if they're a vocal minority, they're still a minority.

Hate it as you may, very few people enjoy ASCII graphics and partially translated UIs combined with a nauseatingly complicated (yet, somehow, still uninteresting) gameplay model.

>>115687

Unlike most people here, and you, I'm going to bet, I've actually written complex software that uses zillions of variables in combination with one another; I know precisely how hard it is to deliver something like this, even with autogeneration, automation, and other labour-saving techniques. Literally every game that tries to do something this complex either turns out to be a scam, bogs down in development hell, or is so shallow that nobody actually enjoys it. Give me one example that isn't the h-strat-game version of Dwarf Fortress, that has tried anything this complex, and isn't dead, gone, or a total clusterfuck.

And to be honest, the fact that they're patreon-fagging before they even have gameplay pretty much proves this guy's intentions beyond the shadow of a doubt. Compare to FCDev, or Innoxia, who both (IIRC) created a Patreon specifically because they were asked to by the players, after the players decided they liked the games in question. AW, as it exists now, would probably take me an hour at most to put together. Thinking of the stats would take longer than programming the damned thing.

Until there is at least one scene that is written to account for a significant portion of the options the player is presented with, comprehensively, this is fucking vapourware and you're a fool for trying to excuse it as anything but.

Wrong, completely translated, you mean.

I disagree, not only are you retarded for even thinking for a second that Era games are in any way complicated (complex =/= complicated), you're also retarded for trying to tell me that a more complex, complete sex training coupled with proper dialogue is somehow worse than the very popular Free Cities.

I can give you about 5 examples of Era games, maybe more, really, that are still in development and have enough content.

The rest is totally irrelevant to me, I'm just correcting you about your inane ramblings, I assure you no one cares about how lazy you are as a coder and how much you are projecting your insecurities upon others.

What I Worked On:

On the long flight back home I mostly worked on coding with a bit of story content. Limited/irregular internet access makes the clothing style guide too cumbersome/slow to work on. I finished the morning scene with Lily, and coded in the actual purchasing system into the Bullseye map control. Still a couple kinks to work out, but it's functional for the most part. (It also correctly sends purchased clothes to the wardrobe arrays.) At some point over the Pacific Ocean, I caught myself coding part of the weather generator for some reason… I think because it connects with the map system and I was tired.

What I Will Be Working On:

I'm going to work on the clothing style guide, finish the purchasing system, work on the large amount of dialogue for Tuesday evening, and get started on the wardrobe system so that you can actually wear the clothes that you buy at Bullseye. I also want to add in some of the customization options available at the salon.

I'll probably put out a new version for supporters sometime during the week when there's enough visible/playable to warrant it. The next "big" release will be when I have all the above done, which will probably be right around the 3rd of September, but it's harder to plan exact times with story content and wardrobe system I'll be working on.

You can look at the code yourself, Twine can't be obfuscated AFAIK. But without even looking at the code, it's pretty easy to see it wasn't copied. Most of the stuff isn't even the same. And just about everything in FC uses textinput, but AW only has checkboxes/radiobuttons. Also AW has a lot more CSS work, which itself shows he's at least somewhat competent at coding, probably to the point he wouldn't need to steal someone else's code to make checkboxes.

They don't even use "the same exact categories and wording". These are just common descriptors for body customization in games like this.

And by the way, yes, it's standard for games made in Twine to look similar.

>Updated game settings to include option for dev commentary and whether skill check results are visible.

>Added functional light color theme available from the settings menu. (please report any ugly or difficult to read items. UI bar issue with hard to read labels is known.)

>The status view now has the intended design with tabs, not all elements are functional yet (a system needs to exist before showing it's status or having options).

>More cheats are functional though some still lack an opportunity to use them.

>Lily's bedroom scene has been expanded with skill checks as intended, now includes a minor sexual/oral event. (You need good seduction skill and luck.)

>Skill check function is implemented for using pc skills. (See below for details.)

>Expansion and improvement of fonts.

>Clothing style guide is implemented.

>Finished morning scene immediately before traveling to Bullseye.

>Added some content after leaving Bullseye.

Skill checks are one way that a players skills are used. Rather than simple thresholds, however, I've taken inspiration from tabletop RPGs to use a combination of randomness and the character's skill. The bonus you receive from your skill points on checks is a flat progression up to 100 points (meaning going from 80 to 90 gives the same benefit as going from 10 to 20). Above 100 skill points the player receives diminishing returns up to 200 points. The randomness comes in the form of a weighted RNG. Truly random RNGs are kind of crappy, because you're just as likely to get any result. This doesn't work well for skill checks, where an average result should be more common

Pretty much, if you post updates regularly with content that actually does look like you've worked on (Not SO's monthly, "fixed one bug that no one knew about") it for the duration of the wait, you're good to go.

Since you do look on 8ch, I think people do understand that your game isn't completely devoid of content, but you just laid down 20k words and you're barely at the prologue, that means your pace is slow, and it usually should be that way for these type of games, if I'm at a masturbation scene for a whole novel, that is "no content" if I'm looking for porn.

For some fucking reason Sugarcube 2 saves a max of 100 object properties. PC has 130-something right now. Rather than splitting into two (or more) categorized objects and having to remember that too, I just changed them all to flat variables for now. Also annoys me that multi-level objects fuck up, I wanted to be able to do something like NPC[i].trait.dickhead or NPC[i].flag.fuckedPlayer That way I could run a For on NPC[3].flag.length but no… plenty of other twine fuckery too, like issues with javascript functions (in story java) being unrecognized when called inside a <<script>>

It's solvable, FC/PregMod have done it. I need to switch tweego for compiling, and poke around in their gits a bit to see what they did. This dev has done nothing except a character creator so far and he's already making sick excuses. So how the hell is he making more money? I really don't understand. Is it the genre? The supposed story this game will have? Because so far this game streamlines you far more and Lillith's offers far more variety, so in terms of fetishes Lillith's comes out on top by far. This game has made literally zero progress since the patreon.

Selective memory. Innoxia has missed a couple of content updates/hotfixes and got plenty of you "here we go" types bitching about it in response. The games also appeal to different niches, if you can grasp that concept. LT appeals to people who are in to corruption, transformation, fantasy, demons, furries, etc. a la CoC. AW appeals to people who are more in to modern-ish, realistic-ish stuff like GirlLife and NewLife. LT hasn't settled fully on mechanics and gameplay yet (the whole sex system, and dominance/submission were basically reworked because fuck it in the middle of development) and Innoxia dumps content instead of working on mechanics sometimes just to appease you lot, whereas AW's dev is working from the back-end up and isn't going to be content-heavy til the framework is done. It's different, but that doesn't make it better or worse. If that's going to give you a stroke, you should rethink your masturbation habits.

Please Author you can put 5 fucking scene atleast then continue to develop the game. I saw this game since the beginning waited so there is something before I play. And absolutely nothing. I mean give us a taste at the content not a bazlillion character creation option that don't matter at all because there is 0 scene showing that you can even write sex scene. How can you even have a patreon?

You know what the best part is? It'll probably stay that way for God knows how long. The answer to the whole Patreon question is it's own answer…Patreon. Go figure, right?

No.132661

>>132631

It's both pathetic and sad because there are people doing honest work, delivering content twice a month. Sadly, the 5% that are serious about this get ruined by the other 95% just wanting to make money doing as little as possible.

Really bums me out that Patreon is getting such a bad reputation because of this. Because we all know that whenever we see a new dev with a new "version 0.1" game, our first assumption is that it's going to be just another barebones game with no content for a year. And most of the time we'd be correct in assuming that.

Fucking scumbags.

Did your parents drop you or something? Its a twine game. Its an html file that can easily be edited with fucking notepad

No.134980

>>134977

He is retarded, but to be fair in this context the game isn't "free," as free refers to it having an open source license (it's currently gratis, anon is saying it should be libre).

Sure, you CAN edit it, but without a license explicitly saying you can, the game defaults to the original dev owning 100% of the code of the game and any derivative works.

No.134996

>>134980

But if we wanted to make a community edit nothing is really stopping us from doing so. I dont really see the problem with a base dev having a de jure ownership over a mod. As long as no one is planning on earning money from said mod, everything should be peachy.

No.135045

>>134996

I don't really have a problem with it either, but some people do.

It's the difference between the modding situation with some games of "wink and a nod, not officially approving of them but not taking them down" and something like Paradox's explicitly mod-friendly approach.

Also, base devs having de jure ownership over mods can be troublesome in some cases, e.g. the base dev is European and a modder decides to make a loli mod. Now that base dev can be arrested for CP because he legally has the rights to that loli mod.

Probably wouldn't get convicted for it, but it's a messy legal situation nonetheless.

Its unlicensed if it is to be protected it needs to be licensed otherwise corporations wouldn't pay to license shit. Even the free licenses where you can modify and do whater the fuck you want prevents one thing and usualy contain the condition to include a certain text informing of the license, the thing they prevent you fom doing is claming that the product is yours and licensing it as such.

No.135054

>>135052

on second thought the engine is licensed and the work probably default to the engine license.

No.135111

>>135048

Why does this topic still exist?

No.135112

>>135052

Anon, you don't understand how this works. Licensing grants rights to other people. Without a license, the rightsholder (usually the creator) holds ALL rights.

Corporate licensing isn't even close to the same thing as open source licensing, but even then it has a similar concept. By default the rightsholder, in this case let's say Marvel, has all rights. A second company, let's say Netflix, approaches Marvel and asks for a license. This license would grant them certain rights, and because Netflix would be making money off of this deal, Marvel charges them.

Marvel, in granting this license to Netflix, forfeits some of the rights they previously held by granting them to Netflix.

By assigning a license you are in every single situation limiting your own rights and granting them to someone else.

Unless you live in some shithole that doesn't have intellectual property laws, I guess.

No.135260

>>135112

I mean, you're mostly right, but usually you have the right to revoke their access to it. The only time you're limiting yourself, is when the contract specifies exclusivity for the license holder. No one forfeits their rights when they let out a license unless they didn't read the contract.

No.135468

This is all just proof that he's very good at selling the game without actually delivering anything. And I'll give credit where credit's due, he's a very good conman. He updates things that make it "seem like he does decent progress" and makes lots of Patreon posts, but it's been months now and there's still nothing in terms of gameplay.

No.135534

>>135468

The whole project is very well designed. The way how the character "creator" alludes that the game will soon™ feature absolutely everyone's fetish without actually delivering anything (or direclty stating something that might finally bend the illusion to a breaking point) is clearly quite clever, even though I would have considered it too extensive, but I guess overestimating people is why I'm not a professional level conman.

I personally feel it doesn't make any sense. You see it absolutely everywhere on patreon: people making a lot of money doing nothing/not much.

If you're already at a level of making more money than a real life job, why not actually treat it like the golden egg that it is?

It stands to reason that if you actually show off good content and considerable updates to show you work 6-10 hours a day on it, you'll earn that much more.

The only real reason I can think of that the latter doesn't happen, is simply because the dev can't. That they don't have the creativity and inspiration to deliver. No matter what a lazy ass you are, if you can triple your income doing honest work, you probably would if you could, right?

No?

No.135561

>>135557

>It stands to reason that if you actually show off good content and considerable updates to show you work 6-10 hours a day on it, you'll earn that much more

This is the problem in your line of thinking. People continue to pay them if they only work 6-10 hours a fortnight, so why would they ever bother working 6-10 hours a day?

No.135591

>>135585

Already having something doesn't incentivize doling out money, so actually providing a functional product would be counter-productive for this sort of continuous scam. What these scams need to do is to convince the paying audience that the content they want will appear eventually.

No.135609

>>135585

With Patreon, rather than people looking for games with content and supporting them, people will find games with content they like (or in this case, something that looks like it may have content they like in the future) and support those, regardless of output.

It's a monthly payment and typically fairly small, so most people would only remember it once a month when they notice the charge, so as long as there's ANY progress whatsoever by that time, most people are perfectly happy to continue burning through money.

No.135639

>>135609

The average pledge for an adult game creator on Patreon 3-8 bucks a month. I'd hardly call 5 dollars "burning through money" unless you work at a fucking Arby's in Dinklefuck, Alabama or your mom isn't letting you use her credit card.

That's exactly my point, anon. It's a small enough amount that people don't think about it, thus they end up wasting a fair amount of money by paying $8/month for two years or something. And they rarely remember about it, so as long as the dev has ANY progress for those people checking once every month or two, the money keeps rolling in.
