I can't be the only one that loves this, right? CRC has got to be my favorite so far though I've only played a few.
http://tss.asenheim.org/ is a great place to start.

I've played pretty much all of the English stuff they have on Asenheim back in the day. A lot of them were pretty bad, like the Paradise Heights games and the C's Ware nukige, but some of them were great like Nocturnal Illusion, True Love, May Club and Season of the Sakura.
YU-NO is the best retro VN I've played (actually, best VN period), but I don't think that has enough hentai focus to be considered an eroge.
No.1529
>>1526I just got through True Love and thought it was pretty great. Played a bit of May Club and I'm not liking that at all. I've heard Season of the Sakura was good so I'm saving that.
What made YU-NO so good?
No.1530
>>1529I love YU-NO mainly because of its interesting story and point-and-click adventure style gameplay, rather than the typical click-until-a-choice-appears gameplay of most VNs. The art is also pretty great, considering the low resolution and 16-color limitations of the time (pics related).

Where does a guy find YU-NO? Erogedownload is garbage.

i am the only one who dropped it because of getting stuck and having no idea of what to do? also the history wasnt a big deal

Going to bump with the best retro screenshot of all time.

The art is the best aspect of pre-2003 eroge, in my opinion.
Dragon Knight is the only one I've done, though. Too bad it doesn't have any actual sex scenes, because the girls are absolutely retardedly hot.

I kid, I think that the artwork is the thing that brings people back, YU-NO, Season of the Sakura et al are classics.

I dig it quite a lot, in any case.
I really wish there was more eroge from then available. 90s stuff seemed to be really fun, even if it was really cheesy or whatever.

Technically, not so good. Played it for several hours straight and experienced power outage. Almost completed one route only to lose the progress because there is no option of saving the game without exiting it. If it were someone more likable than that dumb stepmother, I might reconsider. As it is, never ever.

i noticed that on those eroges the girls dont moan sounding like tortured animals, where did that changed?

No patience, eh? I had less patience for playing it than 'acquiring' from erogedownload.

Does Knights of Xentar count?

I think the eroge industry was much bigger back then, if anything. It seems that only recently, it's beep dipping a bit and getting less and less varied, tamer, etc.
Then again, we only get a fraction of the stuff that gets released to this day, so maybe I'm wrong.
