hi, so I downloaded this game a few days ago, with the mod. I gotta say I'm really impressed. I like it alot. I understand its still being modded? is my version outdated now? or is there yet to be an update?
I know everyone is working hard. My only gripes are many of the pictures don't exactly match the girls in their different scenes (which I understand), I wish there was more animation, the combat isn't really engaging imo should be completely reworked more rpg like.
Perhaps someone good at replicating the artwork could make scenes more individual girls? In addition, if it were possible simple flash animation loops of sex scenes (eg. blowjob, footjob etc) I think that would really be great.

The way slaves are matched up with sex scene pictures is by age, hair colour, and eye colour. There's 200 slave images, but only about thirty images per sex act - some have more (76 for regular ol' vaginal sex) so you've got a reasonably good chance of getting a fitting image for that act, but some have less (nine variations on footjobs) so chances are you'll end up with a generic image. And sometimes you've got different artstyles between the character's image and the sex act's image. That's just what happens when you've got an imagebase built up on whatever the original author of the game could find on the internet.
There's no easy workaround for this shortage. If someone's willing to put together character packs, I'm willing to code them into the game. I'll put up full instructions for character packs in a bit. Anything beyond that would require a complete rebuild of images, and that would mean having to decide between the regular imagepack and the grimdark image pack which I think is already fairly contentious.

Here's how to create an imagepack to add a new girl to /hgg/mod.
If any part of these instructions seems stupidly specific or needlessly complex, you've just had a taste of what it's like to code for this game.
First, we need the main image of the girl. Dimensions 795x595 or within a few pixels, with a transparent background, in a .gif format. Ideally, she should be naked, looking at and facing towards or slightly away from the viewer, with the image containing her entire body from the waist or thighs up. Look at the pictures in Jack-o-nine-tails\content\pic\girls\full for reference. This is the picture anyone training this girl is going to be spending the vast majority of the time staring at, so ideally it should be of a good resolution with no jaggies.
There'll also need to be a 150x150 jpg of her face - it can be from the main image, but it doesn't have to be. It can be a portrait or it can include her tits, you decide. Please also include a sepia-tone and greyscale version of the same image - I could do it myself but I'm shite at image editing software so you'd be saving me a huge chunk of time to include it.
That's the end of the mandatory stuff, but if that's all you've got then there's not really any point in submitting a character pack, is there? Let's get to the fun stuff.
All of the following pictures should be gifs, ideally 800x600 or slightly under, but smaller images can work too. They can be animated.
Here's the sex scenes that should be easiest to use in your image pack and it would suck to have to use a generic image for:

There's no text for spider sex, so for it to be restored someone's going to have to write it. The pictures are in Jack-o-nine-tails\content\pic\girls\sex and all start with 'spider' for reference purposes. As always, if someone writes it, I'll add it.
As for the polypus, all there is of it in the code is a single line that's been commented out, and 'polypus' is probably some sort of stationary tentacle monster - it was probably cut for being too similar to the Fog Fiend. Doesn't really seem worth the effort to restore, since there's so much overlap and it would basically have to be written, coded, and have pictures found for it from scratch.

Rynak, if you're still around: finally got around to looking into blindfolds in active sex, and they don't seem to reduce temperament much at all: only a -1 to slave_rate['temper'], and it can only trigger that -1 once a day. Unless I'm missing something, I think you were imagining things.
Status report: all the rules/jobs/etc are moved to the slave array, which means very little for players but is going to make a lot of things easier in the future. Doing this changed how jobs transferred: instead of having a separate 'memory' for slave jobs and assistant jobs, an assistant will do the same jobs she did as a slave and vice versa. If both the slave and the assistant both have the same job, the priority will go to the slave.
While changing that, I tweaked how accounting works: your slave and your assistant can both work on accounting together now, but if either of them are deficient in skills or intelligence they'll hurt more than they'll help. Though it's a good way to sacrifice some of your accounting savings to boost the training of your slave or your assistant.
Additionally, as of the next version, any rewards or punishments you've already given on that day will be greyed out, but still selectable.
I've still got a bit of oomph, so I'm going to be adding dickbutt's new combat encounters, as well as reworking combat to make it easier to add new encounters in the future. Today has been a productive day.

Just thinking in terms of economy one wonders where exactly sparks come from? And they must come from somewhere seeing as sparks are consumed when performing magic. If they are not being replenished from somewhere the value of the spark would undergo massive deflation.
Sparks are also interesting in how they seem to be equivalent of mana. However unlike most games, here it does not naturally generate overtime. In several games mana is in someway related to the soul. Building on this it might be the case that children can not be born into the world because something about the world prohibits people from generating mana/sparks naturally. That is to say without generating any sparks/mana no souls form for the child which results on the child being dead upon birth.

Question for the other code-delvers: how the hell does the player's strength value change? I'm looking at the code and as far as I can see calculate_atributes takes master_str and master_str_rate, sets their values to master["str"] and master_rate["str"], puts those in the $hero_con array, and it uses $master_rate[$hero_con[i]] to determine the new value of $master[$hero_con[i]]. So far, pretty straightforward. But for the life of me I can't see where the increased master["str"] is turned back into master_str, which is what the game actually uses. But if I make my test button increase master_str_rate it boosts strength properly.

Concerning the eggmod, and principally the barn would it be possible to lower the difficulty? I explain:
For now the barn need to developp and assistant (devotion 3 + nurse + secretary) + 2 perfect pets (pet at green)
It is relativly easy to do in sandbox mod as patrician but undoable by a beginner or in stroy mod without patrician flag.
If easy it would be interesting to be able to affect the slaves at the barn at devotion 1 for the farmhand and pet blue for the egglayer and the cow, with lower results.
The second advantage would be that the barn is evolutive cause, for now, as you put perfects slaves in the barn, it is ended so it's like a flag 'Barn/not barn'.

While rebuilding how the code remembers rules, promises and threats (for those who care, they've been moved to the slave['foo'] array rather than kept as separate integers - thanks to stuntcock for letting me know how three-deep nested apostrophes work), discovered and fixed some gifts that would not fulfill the promises for gifts and renamed 'promise a promotion' to 'promise a reward'.
Tweaked accounting - your slave and your assistant can now both work on accounts, though if either is unskilled or stupid they'll hurt more than they'll help. If both are, you're probably better off doing it yourself.
Made it so that rewards you have already given your slave today (and thus which would be ineffective to repeat) are still selectable, but are shown in grey. Suggested by Rynak of ULMF.
Added a bunch of corrected translations provided by a kindly Anon at 8chan /hgg/.
Added new combat encounters on the Edge of the Fogs: one with an ogre, one with a warg, one with an orc, and one with a pair of goblins. Coded by dickbutt.

Can't seem to get the Beta Four version of the trainer to work on the game anymore - after I started using the HGG mod. I'd been using the trainer to basically disable the calorie system (set the slave at 2 fat and leave her there) since all it does is annoy me.
Now the trainer will select my slaver, the world, and the coliseum - but can't seem to locate either my slave or assistant.
Does anyone have any suggestion on how to either get the trainer working again or to disable the calorie system without it?

So I just started playing this game a few days ago, and I've probably had to restart the tutorial (normal slave, the princess girl one) about 40 times so far.
I need a slave rating of C to pass the tutorial, but the highest I've been able to get my slave is D. And once I installed the hggmod, I have even more trouble, with my slave now not listening to anything I say and I constantly have to beat her, which ends up decreasing her endurance and eventually killing her.
So I guess I have two questions… First, what exactly did the hggmod change to make this a lot more difficult?
Second… any advice for the normal tutorial? Before the hggmod, I'd get her weight up (starts at underweight), work on dancing to get her endurance up (starts at weakened). Usually only took two beatings since she's afraid of pain.
Now after I installed hggmod, it seems that even after I get her to do the job, she does it so badly I STILL have to punish her. I've not once had a situation where I could reward her, it's just a continuing downward spiral.

when you first get the slave take her to the elven laid salon and do full service for both you and her then go get her a piece of cloth and make her wear it and then encourage her and explain her position 3 times and check if it says this slave needs to learn obedience or not if it still says that try threat her and punish her hard till it's no longer require obedience, now teach her and don't punish her for everything and reward her whenever he has a merit but be careful don't reward or punish her more than her merit or guilt that should work most of not every time,

I don't know if this thread still alive but how the fuck do I max out Xenophily? I left a slave as a pig for a couple of game weeks and her Xenophily has not changed a bit. It's the only thing stoping me from getting Garsid's quest done.

Anyhow, what basic attributes are the easiest to raise?
I'm trying to get a rank A slave for the General, and found a green(beautiful?) slave at the market.
I can't get her beyond Tough for health, she somehow got Plump before I noticed and no amount of weight loss or even starving(unintentional but it did happen for like a week) seems to bump her down.
She's one step away from Unashamed, but still only rank C so that won't be enough anyway.
Only real negative she has is Lesbian, so I don't get why I'm having such a hard time getting her to even B rank. Nothings fucking moving.
Worth asking too I guess, will plump or lesbian make the General reject her?
