>Your favorite h-game doesn't have a translation
It's horrible having something so great, and having it be held back because of something so small.

I've actually taken up the mantle of learning the language at this point. Might as well do something with the free time, though the process is quite taxing. It is helpful to atleast have the kana down and pick apart kanjis with a machine translator.

I know that feel.

>the ekikon kenkyuukai games will never get translated

fuck my life

Your options are basically:
1. Hope google perfects machine translations
2. Learn Japanese
3. Hope non-Japanese becomes profitable customers
4. Beg fan translators

>Hope google perfects machine translations
It'll happen, but it might take a long time.
>Learn Japanese
Doing this, is not so bad and you feel smurt when you actually manage to read something.
>Hope non-Japanese becomes profitable customers
It's happening already, some games like the one with the wolf chick never ever are getting translated, it'll take a few years before the makers of those small games start thinking about translated it.
>Beg fan translators
This might work.

Personally I have way more faith in professional translations growing than any of the other alternatives.
Dlsite has shown willingness to invest in foreign customers, they have like $10,000,000 in the bank, they're just conservative about it, if they see that foreign customers actually become a significant revenue source I'm sure they'll be happy to invest more. They've already started an official translation service (which is the one wolf chick is using) to help streamline translation process for creators.
Plenty of creators can afford to translate, top doujin creators are easily making $100,000 per year or more.
It's just that they're conservative as they basically have zero job security so they're cautious with risk taking.

Anyone know the game in OP's pic?

It usually goes like this for me: decide to learn moonrunes → (re)learn hiragana and katakana → Read few chapters of Tae Kim guide and be able to read and write simple sentences → Forget to continue learning → time passes 1-3 years → watch some anime and notice error in translation (simple sentences ofc) → notice how interesting titles are not translated in vndb → rinse and repeat

I wish I had more commitment, and free time to learn the language. There are some things I'd love to see translated, and I given how long this media has been my hobby I might as well do myself a favour and learn the language. But I can never find appropriate time. That and the whole DMCA thing. I hear VNR is a nice way of group translating something though, and since it's not tampering with the files of the original game it shouldn't be grounds for C&D's. It's basically the same thing as creating translated subtitles.

I remember there was a tax evasion case where it was revealed that one of the top sellers on DLsite had made $1.2 million in three years.

I bet some nips will feel our pain once yanderesim comes out.
It's not h-game related but it's going to be in all English without a translation so let us hope they're empathetic enough to attempt translations for future works after that…

I'm not holding my breath though, commercial h-game translations will happen long after aids is cured and America has decent free healthcare.

AKA never ;-;

Just learn nip.

What about Chiitrans Lite and similar stuff? It's not like Google Translate has no alternatives.

And don't underestimate fans:

>learning nihongo

It wouldn't be worth the effort. It took me long enough to learn English to understand that. Learning kanji is truly a PITA.

Where can I dl all the shota games? ulmf is pretty autistic about loli and shota so I've got nowhere else to turn.

 No.8506

Machine translations for context based languages will never be good. Not until we get sentient machines which won't happen in our lifetime. Only choice you have is staying a pleb and relying on fantranslations or learning moon runes yourself.
