I do actually want to learn about this, a friend of mine is a Rhodesia-boo and defends it very heavily. I don't know much about it besides being an apartheid state that declared independence from the United Kingdom.

Too bad we can't mix in with War Thunder or GS games or something like that. I feel like hosting that on this board would bring in some interesting (or at least more) people.

With the video game angle, maybe we could "host" some specific days to play some games that have historical stuff. I play a mod for M&B:W called Vikingr (based on vikings and the "dark ages") that will sometimes do shieldwall events on Sundays, and they're pretty cool. It ranges from about 20 people showing up to 200. Stuff like that could be interesting.

War Thunder has historical missions that we could get a squadron going to play, and talk about planes/aerial warfare/etc in the threads?

I don't know, just some ideas.

Hi.

So, I have been thinking a little more on this and my idea of video games bringing some people in.

I am sure if I posted on /v/ about Mount & Blade or Napoleonic Wars we could get a server going. That could lead to attempting "reenactments" of historical battles for at least Napoleonic Wars.

As I mentioned earlier, Vikingr is a mod based on realism. It's free, and as long as you have Warband you're golden. After checking out their fora on the Taleworlds site, it seems that the fellow doing the shieldwall events (pretty big battles where quite a few clans would join in) is stopping it for some reason. Perhaps, if you guys wanted, we could fill the void? Some of you guys could play, and as mentioned we could probably snag some guys from /v/ that are interested. Same with NW.

My only problem is server hosting as I have $0 disposable income.

Just some ideas for a single game.

I have absolutely no idea of how to create custom kits or tactics or whatever for the Cup, and I don't have time to look for songs and characters now, but check out L'Effet C'Est Moi for possible anthems/horns and let's try to not get too obscure/serious with our players and shit, let's entertain to advertise. And if I'm not mistaken the Mongolian theme belongs to /intl/.

I think that we should advertise on certain cuckchan boards, /int/ and /lit/ specifically. At one point there was a fairly large movement for adding a history board so there's definitely an interest.

I'm really concerned that almost nobody knows the icup is happening now. I've not seen a single thread on the big boards, and for some asinine fucking reason they chose to have the first games on

As for activity on the smaller boards, I'm wondering how all of you will fare when we move to infinity next. That old threads are not preserved is not so great a deal for the bigger boards who have high activity, but the small boards? People are more likely to post the more threads there are for them to post in, not to say anything about lurkers who may be interested in reading good threads that have yet to fall off the catalog. On the other hand, I bet the decline in activity across several smaller boards is probably because people are aware nothing is being saved when we move to infinity next, and are keeping their posts for when it will be needed most, right after the migration.

I'm aware there has been talk of crossboard cooperation with /philosophy/, perhaps even a merging, but I think you all need to broaden your horizons. Perhaps a coalition of many smaller boards would become possible, especially with the advent of a new feature in infinity next, the Overboard.

The Overboard collects every thread and post across all boards and puts them together: one thread could be from /b/, the one right after from /tech/, and so on. I'm wondering if Josh could be convinced to add a feature to this that people could create their own Overboards and combine any set of boards they choose in this way. If that were to be possible, this coalition of small boards could make their own Overboard preset and support each other.
