In one of my meetings one of the guys brought in a knife that he said was purportedly used in Satanic rituals between the end of the french revolution and the Napoleonic wars. The knife was quite old and had a vaguely middle eastern shape just a slightly curved blade with the words "fin de vous" engraved onto the flat of the blade, the handle was made of bronze and was in the shape of a women with a snake wrapped around her.

Personally, I don't care about the knife that much but the idea of Satanic Death cults running around the french revolution? That's pretty interesting. The problem is that google is inundated with modern satanists and people blathering on about the Illuminati. So I was wondering if my friend is bullshitting me, or if there are recorded cases of human sacrifice and death cults in france.

It's a fact though that Freemasons were deeply involved with French Revolution.

I'm not talking about free masonry or the Illumanati, but actual cults. /x/ and /fringe/ believe any nonsense and they'd give me nonsense. /christian/ would just just be completely biased and shit up the threat like they do any other that isn't about Eastern Orthodoxy or Catholicism

You could still try /christian/ as I can imagine some may at least have an interest in Satanism. It's hard to verify what your friend says, however, as during and shortly after the French Revolution it was a bit of a clusterfuck as people killed eachother. It wouldn't surprise me if there were Satanic Cults but they would definitely be in the minority. Perhaps question your friend more on how he knows that it was used for Satanic Rituals. In my honest opinion, I believe the knife may have been made post-Revolution during Napoleon's Egyptian campaign, possibly by an Egyptian weapon-smith for a soldier or officer in Napoleon's army. This is purely speculation though.

It seems more like it was some kind of extreme illuminism (aka "adam and eve did nothing wrong by eating the apple of knowledge") and it seems liking lucifer (typical rebellion guy) was also something cool at the time.

I guess Revolutionist France was full fucking edge

Don't know anything about the subject, but french is my mother language, and "Fin de vous" doesn't sound correct, I feel like someone crafty made the piece and sold it with a bullshit history.

"Votre fin" would be correct, it would mean "Your end".

Note that the knife may have been made in Europe, as there is a market dedicated to fake artifacts for tourists. Without pics, it's hard to judge tho.

For what it's worth (probably very little), in the game Assassins Creed Unity, which takes place during the French Revolution, there are two side missions, "The Cult of Baphomet", and, "The Ritual of Baphomet". You are asked to steal some chalices, and then to find and kill some weird priest-type people in an underground tomb/catacomb.

I know this is just from a vidyagame but the AC series is known for doing their historical research on most aspects of their games.

notice I said that my comment wouldn't be worth much, if anything.

on some of the stuff, yes. Like the buildings and, well, mainly the buildings. They have a lot of texts in the menus if you'd take a look.

Never been to /v/, not going to start now.

I can go on google streets and see it myself, especially when talkinng about the revolution.

>They have a lot of texts in the menus if you'd take a look.

Yeah, brought you by a game in which all the good guys are commies but that at the same time states that they're "unbiased"

Come on, don't be a dick, the guy posted it knowing that it probably meant nothing and he admitted to that in his post, now you're just ripping into him? Seriously, if you're not going to bring anything to the thread then piss off or at least sage.

Well he could've thought of it in the first place that maybe a game isn't really a historic source.

At this point I might as well start rallying up those videos about how jews come from the future and males are actually martians and hold them as true.

I don't want to bash him until he's dead but going soft isn't gonna help anyone.

That's pretty ridiculously superfluous. :D
