First off, he wasnt the big boss, he was elected president, but there were many generals and each one of them had both their wins and losses.

Second, he did not get run off the country 4 times, he was part of the army of the first republic under the leadership of general Francisco de Miranda, who was a general during the napoleonic wars, the first republic collapsed due to internal inestability and lack of leadership.

He commanded an expedition from colombia in 1812, he suceeded in the north and west of the country, he was given the nickname of liberator by citizens after capturing caracas, but was eventually defeated by an spaniard warlord (yes, he can be counted as such, and i do respect that man, not offense meant) called Jose Tomas Boves, that man died in battle but crushed the 2nd republic.

He then went off to haiti, where the president supported him with the condition that he would free the slaves, he parted from haiti with a ship, soldiers and ammo (so your whole "an army of angry somalians and haitians" its bullshit, since his haitian expedition did not exceed 200 men), now he did suceed and went with an army of venezuelans and colombians all the way to bolivia (wich was named after him after he suceeded in kicking off the spaniards).

The grand colombia ended the venezuelan 3rd republic since it was all now a republic formed by all the territories of the viceroyalty of new granada, the grand colombia was destroyed by internal generals and landowners wanting to control their own country instead of being under control of a big one, also the fact that Bolivar's "heir", Antonio Jose de Sucre was murdered by the movement of la cosiata, wich was after the separation of the country.

So yeah, do your research before talking shit about a man that was pretty sucesfull in his life.

Not him, and I wish I did, though maybe I have a pdf stored away someplace. I do remember one story about some Barbary pirates attacking a town someplace in southern Spain. After a day or two of bombardment both sides agreed to a ceasefire, after which the pirates were then invited into town to discuss terms.

After terms were reached, there was apparently a three day celebration where the townsfolk and the pirates partied together.
