Was there some sort of "Cultural revolution" or destruction of ancient Persian relics after Khomeini's revolution?

I'm honestly not sure. Most modern history is condensed for me, and that's usually relegated to the west.

I wouldn't put it past him, though. That being said, it probably was nowhere near as destructive as the Cultural Revolution in China. That was barbarism at its finest.

An Iranian from /pol/ said that the preislamic period of Iran gets heavily smeared in school.

I once read something about destroyed cultural goods as well, but a lot of ruins ans zorastrian stuff is still there, so I guess it wasnt that bad.

They purged universities during the early 80s, which is when large part of Iranian intellectual elite packed up and left.

I'm not sure about destruction of cultural relics though, I believe Khomeini personally forbade this, but I can't find any sources.

Yeah, I've seen many Persian Americans who's parents are from Iran to avoid the regime.
