So is this supposed to be a fusion of /diy/, /out/, /ck/ and a touch of /an/?

This is exactly the board I wanted to see, but it's new AND dead - half a week with lmaonoposts.

I think with the combination of small total-userbase on fullchan, plus the infinite fracturing of boards into mini boards, we might be better off creating a general on a busier board, instead.

If the board picks up, though, I'll happily post here.
So, to start:

Who cans here? What're you canning, do you have a favorite recipe? I'm making some applesauce in a few days, using an old family recipe.

Yeah, the low overall traffic on 8chan combined with 99% of the people here only being interested in a board or two that they know makes it very hard to get a new board active. It has been half a week just because I got too busy right after I made it, so I didn't get around to spamming it until last night. Feel free to spam it on any other boards where you think people might be interested.

I haven't canned anything since I was a kid doing jams and pickles with my mom. Now I really want to go get copies of my grandmas recipes while she's still alive. I'm sure they aren't really objectively better, but what you grew up with always tastes best to you.

I'll spread the word, but I've seen at least two rival boards already.
Even if it doesn't take off, though I'll post some stuff, you can always make a general in /out/, the /homegrowmen/ generals on halfchan covered these topics most of the time. This board covers more than that, of course, but I'm just saying if this doesn't pan out/has only two or three people, we'd be better off in a general.

As for recipes; go visit your grandma and copy that shit out ASAP. My grandma was overjoyed someone wanted to keep her knowledge alive, she's also started teaching me knitting. I figure I might as well become at least an amateur at as many skills as I can, I'd like to have a small hobby farm of my own one day.

If you can get Meyer lemons it makes god tier marmalade. I'll post a recipe if there is any interest.

This isn't about canning, but instead the meta part;

There's a thread about homesteading on >>>/volk/ that never really managed to get off the ground. As the board owner of /volk/ I'd be interested in a friendship of sorts.

I'll post my favourite recipe:

Babby's first homebew

Ingredients:

Rice
Yeast Balls (Asian grocery store will have them, I guarantee it. Just tell them you are making booze)
Water

Tools required:

Rice cooker / stove / whatever
Cheesecloth

Directions:
1. Make rice
2. Take yeast balls and put in bag. Crush inside bag with something hard, end of wooden spoon works pretty well
3. Mash the rice and yeast dust together and put in jar, cover top with cheesecloth and apply lid
4. Place in dark warm spot
5. Wait 4-5 weeks

Cheap, tastes surprisingly good, piss easy

Howdy /home/steading! purdyboi here, the admin from the newly minted /perma/culture. I created /perma/ as a place to discuss pretty much anything related to efficient, compassionate production: gardening, livestock, shrooms, cooking, preserving, and the like, but also political, economic or even spiritual discussion centered around the permaculture ethics and principles.

Come on over if you're interested!
