Alone Together was probably the one episode that I hated.
I was somewhat lukewarm about this show but I became completely on board with it after a string of good episodes that hinted at something bigger.
Then Alone Together was announced and it was hyped to shit by the crew itself. So I was curious.
It's not what I expected and for an entire week I didn't know what the fuck it was or what had happened. It's the perfect example of how tonally fucked up this show can be. The entire episode felt like a nightmare with no story or plot and it quite obviously wasn't supposed to be that way. Shit was directed like I was supposed to be feeling other things.
Then I went to /co/ to talk about it and found that plenty of other people had the same questions and gripes and flat-out bewilderment as me. "What the fuck did I just watch" made up at least 50% of the posts and a lot of people were on the wall about it.
Even today I think it was one of the worst episodes. It starts out sort of interesting but then it goes absolutely fucking nowhere, and turns into a PSA about peer pressure and stranger danger. Not to mention that these two kids just became a freakazoid amazon that everyone wants to stick their penis into, and it's presented like some sort of joke. It's just wrong on a visceral level.

On gem gender, the show says they're girl aliens and characters treat them as such. The creators say they're asexual agender aliens. Those are two different things entirely, and I'd probably think the creators' "official" say on the matter was the mad ramblings of a SJW desperate to portray the Gems as some type of minority if it was posted onto a non-SU team account.
I don't think "the implications are there you're just not seeing them" is a good argument, frankly. That's the shit Bryke pulled for Korrasami.
