School was always easy for me but that was because I never tried to get into those advanced classes and eventually I became really shitty about it
My mom always told me 'there is no reason for you to have Cs or even Bs' and I saw that as her being bitchy and having excessively high standards for me even though I stopped meeting those standards a long time ago so in some warped act of rebellion or something I stopped doing homework and only did classwork and took tests, both of which came easily to me but since I never did homework or and writing assignments or projects I ended up on the lower end of Cs, which prompted my mother to go through the same speech about how being lazy is going to catch up with me and I'm going to regret it when I can't get into a good college
I never received praise from my family not because they had absurd standards for me but because I was spiteful and bad-natured whenever I felt like someone was overestimating me which ultimately only damaged me
At least I figured all that shit out now and not in my twenties or something when it's becoming progressively too late to actually do something about it
