So what are your thoughts on IDs?

Any ideas for banners?

8b02ee No.6

>>5

I approve of IDs, as they are only within threads and not across them and help anons know who they're replying to, prevent samefagging, etc.

As for banners, and any other board assets and other aesthetics, I'm not sure. This won't be an exclusively Christian board, or at least it will be home to lots of non-Christians as well, so I dunno.

Also, does anyone know where the on/off switch for the board owner nametag/identifier/whatever you call that red text is?

I'm okay either way with IDs. I think they will be useful so we can keep track of the posts made by the OPs of threads. Since the point of the board is helping people, without IDs whenever the OP has anything to add they'd have to preface their posts with "OP here" anyway.

I think getting a sticky up with rules or a separate rules page would also be a good first step for the board, and then making a wiki as discussed in /christian/. I'll make some banners soon.

I'll make a sticky with rules as a temporary measure until I figure out the "edit board pages" feature.

I really like ID's. It's helpful in discussions to see who posted what.

Is it just me or is the board behaving strangely? I got a flood detection message when trying to post and the board 404's or loses posts occasionally. I hope it's just the usual 8chan weather.

Things have been smooth for me. Even got some dubs, so I'm liking the board so far.

Anyone who wants to be a volunteer, mail me at the address in my post and I'll give you a password and whatnot tomorrow, or whenever. I only need a handful, though I guess it'd be nice to have at least two in different time zones.

I will upload banners tomorrow if the banner editing is unlocked by then I guess Hotwheels is tinkering with it?

All of the board options seem fine for now. Keep posting banners, and make threads if you want. Discuss your opinions on how this place should be run, what we should do next, etc. in this thread. I'll be back tomorrow. God bless, and thank you all for your support. /hope/ springs eternal.

Forgot to include my email. Fugg. I'm sleepy, shut up anons.

Thank you so much for starting this. I'm glad something grew out of our conversations on /christian/. Just sent the email.

The rules in the sticky are kind of hard to read because of the formatting. My suggestion is to keep the first paragraph about what the board is about, and then link to a separate page for the rules, like /gamergatehq/'s rule page. You can do this in the Board Configuration page for /hope/ (under [settings] from the main dashboard), under "edit board pages."

I think it would be really good to get a wikia up and running. I don't want to run it myself because I know from experience that I shit my pants every time I find myself in a leadership position but I'd love to contribute to it. Especially infographics and links to sites/articles I've found helpful about developing life skills and new hobbies other than shitposting on imageboards all day.

I find IDs helpful to discussion. Samefagging derails discussion and would not be conducive to discussion.

>>6

As you said, this isn't an entirely Christian board. All the same, I don't think we should necessarily avoid Christian imagery or mentions of Christianity, but we do need to know when is a good time to bring it up and not be heavy-handed. I'm not sure about that either.

7bf24e No.50

>>48

Agreed. I'd do it myself, but I have painfully little knowledge on how to run it and I'd fuck everything up.

8b02ee No.54

I am going to create two new threads. One will be for discussing creating a wikia, the other for discussing safe ways to contact other anons as per the rules I posted.

Also, I am awake now and will probably spend most of this week mothering this board and trying to foster discussion.

>>45

You're welcome. Got your email and one other person's, and replied to both. Thanks for volunteering!

>>48

Makin' a thread for it in a minute.

>>49

>I don't think we should necessarily avoid Christian imagery or mentions of Christianity, but we do need to know when is a good time to bring it up and not be heavy-handed

We'll just have to use our individual judgement and follow the example of those who seem to get the best responses. Board culture will take time and interaction between anons to grow.

8b02ee No.72

I'm going to go shill our board, soon. If any anons would like to join in, there is a shill thread on /kind/ that is an excellent place to start, as it is full of links to other boards, many of which share similar goals and outlooks to us. Make sure to check the catalog of any board you're going to shill on and see if they have a designated thread for shilling. And remember to be polite, and humble, and not mention that we came from /christian/ just yet.

Good news! I got us listed on /dir/ after sending a polite email to the BO. We're in "Lifestyle Discussion" under "Health and Self-Improvement". I specifically asked him to put us there, since all the boards listed under "Politics, Religion, Current Events, and Activism" are not particularly /hope/ful. Our current listing also puts us next to several of our "sister" boards.

See for yourself: https://8ch.net/dir/res/73.html

I have also created a board ring page and linked it in our board announcement.

Edit: Forgot to mention that /christ/ has also linked to us directly in their board announcement space. We're movin' on up!
