Get in here, everyone if anyone is left.

Let's take it easy and have a friendly chat thread over Christmas weekend. Talk about anything you want, nothing's off limits. Or funpost. Whatever floats your boat. Just follow the rules. This board has had basically no activity for quite some time, so there's really no point in trying to stay on topic. Let's just try to have some fun and liven up the place.

To that end, what are you all doing for Jesus' birthday? I'll be with a buddy of mine, visiting his family, who are basically like my family.

>>359

I'm still here, I check the board at least once a day. I'm glad to hear you're not alone for Christmas.

>what are you all doing for Jesus' birthday?

I'll be quite busy, spending time with family mainly.

Christmas Eve my household is holding a buffet with my sister, her fiancé, her daughter, and my grandparents (on my mum's side).

Christmas Day I'll be with my mum and her boyfriend (who I live with) for the morning and dinner, and then in the evening I'll be off to my dad's house.

Then Boxing Day, I'll be at my grandparent's (on my dad's side) house with more family, and then returning to my mum's house that night.

It was supposed to be a quiet one this year, but it looks to be ending up as our most hectic Christmas in a long time. I hope I can hold it together and don't end up burning out, I usually require some downtime after a day around people I'm NEET and keep to my bedroom most days, and now I've got 3 full days of it without a break.

>I'm glad to hear you're not alone for Christmas.

Thanks. I am not often truly alone, though, for a certain definition of "alone". I just feel that way. I'm glad you've got family to spend time with, as well.

>I hope I can hold it together and don't end up burning out, I usually require some downtime after a day around people

I know how that is, friend. I'll be spending two days around people, myself. Great people, but that doesn't really matter. When you're a certain kind of introvert, there's always a bar labeled "time to go home" that ticks down slowly at social gatherings. Mine's not very big. But oh well, it's better than sitting home alone lurking 8chan like I would have done instead.

In completely unrelated news, where in the blue Hell is webguy? Did he get hit by a bus? He seems to have disappeared like a month ago after the wiki went down for the second time. I emailed him and everything. I hope he's alright.

Oh, and I invited /kind/ and /christian/ over, but I'm not sure how much they'll notice or care. I didn't want to be obnoxious so I just posted in pre-existing Christmas-themed threads that they had. I don't know what it will take to get senpai's attention ;__;

Hope you all have a merry Christmas.

I'm at my parent's house for the holidays. It's a good chance to visit them, and my siblings and a couple friends that live in the area too. (about 1000 miles from where I live right now)

>When you're a certain kind of introvert, there's always a bar labeled "time to go home" that ticks down slowly at social gatherings.

I know how that feels. No big social gatherings for me this year though, fortunately. Good luck with that, friend.

>>361

>where in the blue Hell is webguy?

No idea. Been wondering that myself.

Here, this thread could use some Christmas music. Have a favorite of mine. No, I don't know why the score doesn't line up with the singing.

>>359

Christmas is going to be pretty easy-going this year for me. Christmas eve I'll go up and see my grandparents for just a little bit to wish them a merry Christmas, and then Christmas day I'll be with my parents and brother. It should be a nice time. My mother can cook a great Christmas feast.

>>361

I just set up a Christmas thread in /christ/, good idea to mention hope if you haven't there yet. Feel free to do so, BO. Not sure where webguy is at. I've been advertising the board where I can when it's appropriate. I hope we get some more traffic. I know there's a lot of suffering anons out there.

Merry Christmas, and thanks for visiting the thread!

>about 1000 miles from where I live right now

Now that is love, right there. Have a safe trip there and back anon.

>>363

That music cheered me up, anon. It's good to remember what Christmas is all about. Embed related is my favorite rendition of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen', which is my favorite carol.

>Christmas is going to be pretty easy-going this year for me

Good to see someone's gonna be takin' it eaaasy.

>I just set up a Christmas thread in /christ/, good idea to mention hope if you haven't there yet

Eh, I might as well, they received us well the first time I shilled there. /kind/ were unexpectedly big bullies and deleted my post. Apparently some vol thought an invitation to visit friendly anons on Christmas counted as board advertising. But that's fine…i-it's not like we like them, or anything. Bakas…

>I hope we get some more traffic. I know there's a lot of suffering anons out there.

Sometimes I wonder whether this board wasn't a dumb idea, or that there's no real niche it can fill that isn't served by anons' home boards. Considering that I nearly broke down and invited /pone here, that may be partly true. I dunno.

Just dropping by to say greetings from /pone/! Hope you all have a Merry Christmas, and that you use the time to be with the people you love, whoever they may be.

Also this guy totally broke down and invited /pone/ if that wasn't already clear.

Sharing music seems to be something anons here like to do, so feel free. That is a very pretty rendition, btw.

Here's something in honor of our /pone/ guest, who was kind enough to drop in and spread some cheer. Ashleigh Ball has a lovely singing voice, even or especially when she's trying to sound like she's from Arkansas.

Might as well contribute, this is one of my favourite pieces of music regardless of whether it's Christmas or not.

Makes me feel like everything is going to be okay.

I'm still here too, OP, and Merry Christmas to you!

>To that end, what are you all doing for Jesus' birthday?

Midnight Vigil, flowed by sleep, followed by attending mass, coming home, spending Christmas with the little family I have left.

I'm also kind of hoping the fortune in my fortune cookie comes true, even though I don't believe in that kind of thing, it would be pretty great if it did.

>>364

>/kind/ were unexpectedly big bullies and deleted my post.

They irony.

>>367

>Thanks anon, it means a lot. I'm glad that /pone/ is keeping the spirit of Christmas alive.

Regardless what I think of /pone/, I am glad they are too.

Everything is as long as you have hope.

>>371

Thank you, Merry Christmas!

I'd be attempting as pious a Christmas as you if it weren't for the fact that I'm not even a catechumen, yet. I really need to get over these jitters and just enroll in RCIA already…

>I'm also kind of hoping the fortune in my fortune cookie comes true, even though I don't believe in that kind of thing, it would be pretty great if it did

Is it a secret, or can you tell us?

>Regardless what I think of /pone/, I am glad they are too

They are autistic but well-meaning, just like most other anons. I would know, they used to be my home board. I still visit sometimes.

9b6bd5 No.376

>>375

>Is it a secret, or can you tell us?

"This weekend will afford you personal opportunity."

I hope so. I'm going to church on Boxing day for the Feast of Stephen as well. I would be so nice to meet a woman my age at Church for a change.

>I'd be attempting as pious a Christmas as you if it weren't for the fact that I'm not even a catechumen, yet. I really need to get over these jitters and just enroll in RCIA already…

If you want, you can still go, you just cannot receive the Eucharist. Just make sure to put your arms over your chest in the shape of an X, with your fists on each of your shoulders.

If you go enough times, and the Priest recognizes you, he might ask if you are interested in joining RCIA, you could even use it as a time to ask him personally.

>>376

>"This weekend will afford you personal opportunity."

How mysterious. Hopefully a Christian qt3.14 is involved.

>Just make sure to put your arms over your chest in the shape of an X, with your fists on each of your shoulders

What does that signify? "No sacraments for me, thanks?"

Also, in honor of the Catholics, here, have some really classic Christmas: a great setting of the text O Magnum Mysterium.

Thanks for inviting me. Anyone drinking anything tonight?

Hot chocolate with creme de menthe is quite nice.

"Good King Wenceslas" is only tangentially Christmas related, but it is one of my favorites. Gets me teary eyed, knowing that we don't have a good king such as Wenceslas and are stuck with shitty bankers and politicians.

Typing this from my phone since I am just about to go to bed.

I liked it. English carols are best sung by Englishmen, imo.

>>379

Thanks anon, that was nice.

>>380

>Anyone drinking anything tonight?

I fell asleep at like eight last night so I could get up early and get ready to go visit some folks, so regrettably I didn't have the option of keeping any of you anons from drinking alone, kek

>Gets me teary eyed, knowing that we don't have a good king such as Wenceslas and are stuck with shitty bankers and politicians

8chan is like the biggest hangout for traditionalists on the internet I've ever seen. Even our bronies are traditionalists, though that makes a weird kind of sense if you've watched the show.

>t. Christfag from /pone/

Are you the same Christfag that made that video in the Advent thread? Because that was great stuff.

I couldn't get an answer about how this started, but this is what I found out:

It seems that this practice has started in the past couple of decades with more non-Catholics attended services with Catholic friends or family, or for young children who come up the communion line with their parents. There isn't any specific reason why you cross you arms, it's just something that has originated.

It also seems that it is dependent on whether or not a Bishop allows it in their area or not.

You don't actually have to get up for communion if you are not able to receive the sacrament. There is a blessing you will receive at the end of mass.

Nonetheless, I hope you do have yourself a Merry Christmas, Anon and I hope this helps.

144f1f No.393

Thanks anon, that does help. I hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas.
