Yes, as a matter of fact, they have. Not necessarily everything, but definitely a large part of my future was torn apart. My last girlfriend and I were very serious. We had named our children, set up a plan for finances, talked about honeymoon spots, pretty much everything that you would expect a serious couple to do that is going to get married. Then, with no real warning or reason, she left me. The perfect picture I had in my mind of a future family was taken from me, and I had no idea what to do. I still feel a bit lost, though thankfully I'm starting to get back into the social scene. I'm recovering, slowly, but the future still feels a lot less certain.
The bright side of it all is that it really allowed me and forced me to focus on my occupation and on my other friends. While I still feel alone, I at least feel stronger on my own.
