This has been my thought too. I've been thinking about it more and more the last few days since it looks like it really will become a reality here.
The plus side is, since this region has been neglected for so long, it makes up for all the cuts that have wrecked the economy here.
But then I realize, the more I think about it, eventually, it'll lead to a collapse, because it simply isn't sustainable.
On a side note: Any money I get I'm going to invest and put away. My /hope/ is this goes for a trial run, I save up the money, then when a new government comes into power, they cancel this, and then I'll be fine because of proper investments.
In my calculations, if I play my cards right, I should have around 50,000 to 80,000 to invest during the life time of this project, and if the markets go the way I'm certain they will go, then I should be easily be able to double or triple that.
If I end up with $250,000+, I have determined I can retire comfortably, as my mom has stated I will receive $200,000 upon her Death (plz don't die mom kthx), and my Uncle Property I apparently will inherit will get me another $100,000 to $200,000 (Split between my brother and I), bringing my total to around $600,000.
Then at 65, the government here already gives you free money to live off of.
