This one looks grim, but the man depicted provides a good example on how to endure suffering. I've found his story to be a source of strength when I've needed it.

These are brilliant, especially the first one.

>>22

I suppose that's up to the admin. Great contribution, by the way. Could you possibly reupload it as a .png? Jpgs have this weird artifact affect when you save them. I should probably have specified this when I made the thread.

I really like this one, actually. The symbolism is readily understood, and not exclusively Christian, but at the same time brings to my mind Matthew 5:14-16.

41a6cf No.36

Banner editing is disabled right now, apparently. I'll continue to save them, but I can't upload them until later I guess.

Thank you to everyone who uploaded banners. Keep 'em coming. When I get the banner editing feature back from whatever Frederic and co. are doing with it right now, I will upload all the ones I think are cool.

Fukken…is it working now? I accidetally hashed Board Owner into a normal trip somehow. What in blazes… I'll get the hang of this eventually.

41a6cf No.41

>>40

Oh, you know what…I think it had something to do with accidentally navigating out of moderation mode. I use my center mouse button a lot to open up links in new browser tabs and it (sometimes?) exits out of mod mode when I do that. Huh.

We /weeb/ now? Fine with me.

>>41

BO, I have to admit, I only just finished reading your pastebin. Absolutely fantastic read, the last paragraph also serves well as a mission statement for this board. You remind me uncannily of myself in many ways.

Also, I was bored earlier and looking for something to watch, and a friend recommended me Haibane Renmei. Later, the same day, I go and read mention of this show I've never heard of before in your pastebin. Is God telling me something? Anyway, I hope you like this one. Probably my last for tonight.

7ea290 No.51

bit too saccharine, aren't they? If we're trying to appeal to the disconsolate, would they respond to these?

Just asking

7ea290 No.52

>>29

drowning is a REALLY good banner theme

>>31

So's the desert

In fact a LOT of these are really good ideas.

But, I still think the drowning man, the cave with a glimmer of light will be the most effective at communicating what this board is all about. The helping someone here >>20 are also really good ideas. and i like the fading-in logo. nice artwork, anon. I doff my cap in your general direction

And if a candle >>16 it should be a really far off candle

just my tuppence

41a6cf No.53

So I went on /operate/ and apparently the banner editing feature will continue to be down until whoever is in charge (apparently someone named Null?) fixes it. We'll just have to do without for now. Keep submitting banners if you like, and I'll keep saving them. Thanks to everyone who submitted banners so far.

>>44

>We /weeb/ now? Fine with me.

It's fine with me, too. As long as any chinese cartoon images used in banners are relevant somehow to /hope/ and not just generic animu grills, it's fine if we have a few mixed in.

>You remind me uncannily of myself in many ways

Gee, I hope not.

>Also, I was bored earlier and looking for something to watch, and a friend recommended me Haibane Renmei. Later, the same day, I go and read mention of this show I've never heard of before in your pastebin. Is God telling me something?

Yes, He is telling you to get better taste in anime :^)

Seriously though, it's really good. Definitely recommended. If you like it, also try "Kino no Tabi." I think it's by the same guy.

>I hope you like this one

I do. If you could make more Haibane Renmei banners, that would satisfy my autism immensely.

>>51

Some of them are a little bit too sugary for sure. Nothing wrong with anime girls, like I said, but they should be relevant anime girls. I think our aesthetic should be more chill and inspiring than /c/ute.

>>51

All of these are great and when Hotwheels fixes his fracking site, I will use many of them.

d0e4c2 No.57

>>51

I thought it would be nice to have a few cute banners in the rotation for /jp/sies and other weeaboos but it's up to the BO's discretion.

I think in general it's a good idea to include some anime/nerdier elements, as people interested in such things will likely be this board's primary demographic.

>>53

>get better taste in anime :^)

Fighting words, BO. I'm afraid your autism will have to wait until I've finished downloading the Blu Ray. I will get around to it though. Here's a bunch I didn't post yesterday.

d451f8 No.63

>>62

I really love that first one! There's something very hopeful about Calvin and Hobbes to me. Maybe it's just that I associate them with the youthful optimism I had when I read them.

41a6cf No.64

>>57

I also want all weebfriends to feel welcome. A few animu banners would not be out of place.

>>62

Kek

>I'm afraid your autism will have to wait until I've finished downloading the Blu Ray

Make sure to get extra comfy before you watch. Hope you enjoy it.

The banners you've been posting are all lovely, btw, and you have excellent taste. When we get the banner function back, /hope/ will be looking very snazzy.

Glad you like it, I get the same feeling. If there's such a thing as a 'positive trigger', I'd definitely count Calvin and Hobbes as one of mine.

>>64

Thanks, I'm happy to help. I think this place could really do some good for people. Also, tonight I ran across a music blog while looking up information on a band I used to be into. Sure enough, the blog had a HR banner at the top. I definitely think God is telling me something.

925364 No.98

what do you use to make these.

000000 No.152

>>98

This. Can someone link a banner how-to? It seems simple but how can one cut a photo to 300x100…?

3d7bef No.166

>>98

>>152

It's extremely simple.

>download Paint.net (it's free)

>new file

>you'll be prompted to select a canvas size

>select 300x100

>find an image you want to utilise

>paste in whatever image you had in mind

>select 'keep canvas size' when you do so

>resize/drag image around until you're satisfied

>use the text option to add the name of the board

If you want to be fancy, you can use layers to achieve interesting effects. For example, if you create a new layer for the text you can use blending modes such as Xor to create text that will automatically adjust its own colour to stand out against the background. Just make sure you save the image as a .png and flatten it. I don't think the default filetype for Paint.net (.pdn) is supported on here.

woew this board set the bar for banners pretty high

I am impressed of you guys

2168b5 No.394

>>390

Is this a reference to something or is there something inherently /hope/ful about hammers?

09f1e6 No.396

File: 1451128602767-0.jpg (14.92 KB, 500x332, 125:83, hopelive.jpg)

File: 1451128602855-1.jpg (36 KB, 460x276, 5:3, morehope.jpg)

>>394

It's a good question, because it is first off a reference to the band "Godspeed You! Black Emperor", though I'm really unsure how the picture is actually related. To a concert I saw recently, they had a screen show with "hope" being displayed while playing.

I don't really know the thought behind pairing hope and hammer, but since hammer is a tool for creation and construction, that's at least something.

2168b5 No.397

>>396

I will have to listen to their music to determine whether they are /hope/ material. Thanks for the banner, keep 'em coming and I'll save them for after the switch to infinity (because, if you didn't know, everything that is currently being posted will not be kept.)
