I had a pretty good week. I could not find time for IPFS, but I I fixed the latest unicode problems, fixed and added to a lot of miscellaneous gui code, and improved logging for both the client and server.

The release should be as normal tomorrow.

am i the only one not remotely interested in this IPFS meme? i mean i can appreciate the concept, but it's way too new and experimental to even consider having support for it now.

i dont know, i feel there's more important things to focus on besides IPFS support(aka, last on the list)

just my 2 cents :3

I do not see any harm on implementing support for IPFS if it's trivial, it could help a bit with image sharing and having "distributed boorus" I'd guess. But it doesn't really have that solid of an use case yet.

As one of the original guys that brought up IPFS to the dev, I'm perfectly fine with him working on bug fixes and other features like the new downloader engine customization before getting to IPFS.

The main reason why I even bothered mentioning it in the first place was because he had mentioned that his original plans for Hydrus was actually a sort of gnutella-like file sharing client that behaved like a booru. IPFS just seemed like the fastest and easiest way to get to that (plus I was already excited for the IPFS meme potentially taking off anyway).

I'll totally agree that it's still new and experimental, but I'll also say that implementing it (or at least adding a simple "add to IPFS" button) shouldn't be complicated at all and could be a neat way to help test just how well IPFS really works in it's current state (which in my experience has been pretty damn well so far).

Still, no rush dev-kun. You can do whatever you want I ain't your mom
