I've been using this fine software for a time, and I love it. It made my life easier.

I tag very much, but due to my slow hard drive, I don't upload them to repository. (I plan to get a decent pc with SSD though)

My "simple" request is, that the client be able to copy all the local tags of the selected files, and paste them individually to the repository tags.

Local/Repository sync feature that is.

I know that it's not as easy as it sounds (I know how hard programming can be), but I do know that the users could contribute more to the tag repository system this way.

I'm glad you like it!

You can do this for the entire repository in services->review services->local tags->perform a service wide operation. You can say 'copy all mappings to (public tag repository)' and then hit Go!, and it should pend everything in your local tags to the public tag repo. If anything already exists in the public tag repo, it will be skipped.

Doing it only for a few files though is a great suggestion, thank you. It won't be all that difficult, because I can use the existing service-wide code and just limit it only to the currently selected files. I will make a note to add a button for this to the manage tags dialog.

This 'service wide operation' dialog is ugly and old. I will add a note to make it easier to use.

I want to start contributing too, I have a ton of creator namespace tags that should be in the public repository.

One major problem: my local tag DB contains a ton of subjective tags that you don't want in the public repository, and a lot of sibling definitions that are backwards from the public repository, also for subjective reasons.

What can I do about them? Can I somehow exclude them?

Something else for the public repository, would you be okay with adding ID namespaces for artists' various accounts on pixiv, DA, etc. and parenting them to the creator?

That dialog allows you just to copy one tag or namespace at a time, if that helps. It doesn't support parents or siblings yet, so you don't have to be afraid of that.

You can go 'copy all creator: tags to public tag repo' no problem. The interface is awkward right now–you have to enter 'creator' in the normal tag dropdown and then make sure to select 'specific namespace's mappings' in the dropdown, then hit go. The gui will freeze for a bit, and then you should have some pending tags. You can browse your existing media to make sure that only the creator tags are now pending.

If it all goes wrong, just select 'forget' from the pending menu and try again.

That sounds great, but I think it is probably a sibling thing. Convert the ugly way of identifying the person to the nice way. For instance, I think 'ktora' goes to 'creator:kamitora' on my public tag repo right now.

The idea, for me at least, is to help find more stuff by the same artists. These guys change accounts on these sites all the time and google often can't find a name I pulled from a booru tag.

Ideally I'd like to pull a file from a booru tagged with "creator:sam" and have a sibling pointing from that to "creator:sam wilson", then have that tag as a parent for "id_pixiv:338233" and "id_deviantart:mushikat". When you add the first tag, you get all four.

Actually that's something I haven't tried, if you get a tag through a sibling, does it then work for parenting more tags?

This sounds great. Let's try it, and if it looks cluttered, we'll just undo it. Don't bother putting a reason in the manage parents dialog (just put a space or whatever to make the dialog OKable)–I'll approve them all.

Siblings should generate parents, but I don't think it always works. I think it'll work in the manage tags dialog when you choose from the autocomplete dropdown, but when you add a parent, the retroactive parenting of all existing child-tagged-files might not. Let me know if you find some specific and annoying instance of this, and I'll look into it.

Does the service operation transfer tags for deleted files?

I have a bunch of files that had incorrect tags and I didn't fix them until after I'd deleted the ones I didn't want. There's no way I'd be able to recognize them now.

Would clearing deleted records help with that?

Yes, it should transfer tags irrespective of whether you have the files or not.

If you do a search for 'system:numtags>0' and set it to 'all known files' and 'local tags', you should see all those deleted files appear, just without thumbnails. You can still edit their tags if you like, as well.

There is no way to say 'delete all tags for files that I don't have' at the moment. Would you like me to add that to the dialog?
