serious health question, and in no way a joke. When Lycia says warning the hypnosis for sworn into slavery is very real and irreversible, does she really mean that? Our sub conscious really becomes her property after 21 days of the therapy? Or is she just saying that to increase the excitement and illusion of danger? I really want to know?

Placebo is a hell of a drug, don't know the file but all of hypnosis is obviously based on placebo.
Doesn't mean it can't work.
For example you can google placebo medical trials and read about how subjects become ill from taking sugar pills thinking they are real pills.
You seem like you have an imagination on you, my guess is it will work.

Assuming I'm remembering how I got that, the thanks should go to the people who originally seeded that torrent to me.
Honestly, we need a better solution for keeping files around than we currently have.
If you want to help and do your duty to the community, please download the whole set of files as a .zip and upload files in response to requests in the future. Maybe someday in the future, it'll be you writing this message.

Roll of drums… We need a hypno db! Just not the one that's currently on offer that works more like a black hole than a community project.
I generall favor torrents over the usual file-sharing suspects, with the proviso that people access the torrent via a vpn or proxy. First off, they're more resistant to take-downs. Second, even if paused, they can be rapidly fired up again if a request is made, without all the hassle of having to re-upload each time. I would also add that it is much easier to individually seed a directory of 75 files than it is to upload 75 individual files. People can then pick and choose what they download, instead of needing to d/l the complete zip file.

> People can then pick and choose what they download, instead of needing to d/l the complete zip file.
I agree, hence why I linked to the mega folder instead of uploading a zip. In the same way it's better if everyone downloads and seeds the full torrent, it's also better if everyone downloads the folder zip. I think this is more an argument for uploading to better services than for using torrents.
>I generall favor torrents
Me too, but they have the disadvantage that you can't add files to them without switching everyone over to a new torrent. BTSync is the best of both worlds, although proprietary and weird. I've never had legal/isp trouble as a result of torrenting nor do I know anyone irl who has either. I guess if I really cared I could use ssh -D to connect to a server I have and connect using a socks5 proxy, but now we've entered the realm of things that the common person can't do, so if that was actually required to torrent safely then another solution would be better.
> We need a hypno db! Just not the one that's currently on offer that works more like a black hole than a community project.
I'm actually fairly optimistic about the hiddenhypnodb. I started out being annoyed by it, but it sounds like it's working, and the admin seems to have community interest at heart. It not sucking is dependant on the people who amass credits being prepared to share the files they acquire via alternate means after they spend them. I'd do that, although I'm not sure if other people would.
But don't forget you're trying to design a system to share content that you don't own the intellectual property for. If they submit a DMCA request to 8chan or rapidshare or whoever, it usually gets taken down because it's a legitimate request, not because someone is DMCA trolling. When you're designing a system to help people break the law in an organised way whilst wanting certain other characteristics, there are tradeoffs you end up making. But feel free to chime in with the discussion, technical or otherwise, in the thread >>7552.
If I start grabbing a load of credits I'll probably start a btsync folder that mirrors the database.

>hence why I linked to the mega folder instead of uploading a zip
Humble apologies. I didn't check and foolishly assumed that it would be a zip. (You might correctly deduce that I'm not a Lycia fan.)
>they have the disadvantage that you can't add files to them without switching everyone over to a new torrent
To a point, yes, but I would have thought that it's not really such a big issue. If I have a directory with 75 Lycia files that I'm seeding and I add a new MP3 to the directory, it shouldn't invalidate the torrent. What's to stop me then issuing a ver2 torrent that lists 76 files to sit alongside the ver1 torrent? (Caveat: I've not tried it.)
Legal trouble while torrenting is always a theoretical possibility because your IP address is easily available. The market for VPNs is very large now, post Snowden, and people have a good choice of services for quite reasonable money. Given the potential downsides of legal or ISP trouble versus the actual cost of using a VPN service, it' almost a no-brainer.
I agree that the hypnodb owner seems to be level-headed and technically savvy, and he would have some major bandwidth issues if it were more of a free-for-all. Nevertheless, I'm still unconvinced of its benefit to the wider community, in spite of the "trickle-down" argument being made in its favor, so will remain on the sidelines for now.

Is there any *real evidence* of files making their way back to the wider community as a result of the hypnodb? It's an easy assertion to make that we all benefit, whether directly or indirectly, but is there any concrete proof of this?
The Reagan/Thatcher trickle-down argument actually resulted in more of a trickle-up, so I'd be interested to see real evidence to support the argument that we all benefit from (and therefore should support) the hypnodb.

>If I […] (Caveat: I've not tried it.)
Changing the directory structure changes the infohash, meaning that the second torrent gets treated initially as completely seperate to the first when you add it to your bittorrent client.
If you're savvy, you can change the download location to overlap with that of the first torrent, force a recheck, and it should detect that you have most of the files. But when you come to download that 76th file, it'll only be seeded by people who know about the second torrent. If you grab the torrent from another site like the piratebay or whatever, the chances of you thinking "Oh, maybe this torrent has updated and I should redownload it" is fairly low. So you might have 20 people seeding the first 75 files on torrent A, and 5 other people seeding those 75 files plus one extra on torrent B, at 1/4 the speed. If I see both online, I might grab both, but if I see one is downloading 4x faster than the other, screw the extra file, I'll ditch torrent B. They're mostly the same anyway.
So it can work with centralisation and a tech savvy download-base, you lose a lot of the niceness of "put it up and as long as people seed it'll stay in the DHT and be searchable from btdigg forever".
>Is there any *real evidence* of files making their way back to the wider community as a result of the hypnodb?
Only the assertion of the admin. I downloaded a couple of large torrents and they didn't have a lot of the stuff on the db. According to the admin, he's seen stuff that was previously not on empornium uploaded to after it appeared on the db. Empornium is probably comparable in credits system (discounting free leech, etc, I'm not a member), and certainly less accessible if you just want to browse available files (when it comes to downloading them this might be a different story).
A lot of the files in the public torrents I downloaded for comparison seem to come from empornium because of the way their names are weirdly formatted or because of readmes included in the folders, so I guess that's some vague evidence of the trickle in action.
>The Reagan/Thatcher trickle-down argument actually resulted in more of a trickle-up
I won't be a patronising dick and link you to "copying is not theft" but the obvious difference is that sharing files does not remove the file from your possession, where as sharing money does.
>Nevertheless, I'm still unconvinced of its benefit to the wider community, in spite of the "trickle-down" argument being made in its favor, so will remain on the sidelines for now.
Regardless of whether people are positive or negative about it right now, I think we're all kind of at the "wait and see" stage. I /hope/ it does some good. Time will tell.

>Changing the directory structure changes the infohash[…]
Thanks for the explanation. What you describe pretty much confirms my own (limited) understanding of the technology. I didn't wish to suggest that the people seeding 75 files would automatically be "upgraded" once a revised torrent was created. However, a quick visit to btdigg for a newcomer should still show two torrents, one with 75 files and one with, say, 76 files. Despite the technology's limitations, the greatest benefit of torrents IMO is that there is still a greater chance of getting *something* than with file sharing sites.
The more complicated tech savvy stuff I'll happily leave to the experts
We both agree that torrents are probably better than the often short-lived uploads to sharing sites.
