I will soon be coming back to the motherland and aim to seek private tuition to facilitate my university studies [currently in my 1st year of EE].

What does /ib/ consider to be a reasonable hourly rate for tuition in higher education? I'm thinking somewhere between 400-600 rupees for an hour of a PhD student's time; is this acceptable?

I've had to suspend my studies for medical reasons; but I'm still attempting to follow my course's syllabus as much as is possible, without any external help. Anyway, an EEE PhD student should have enough knowledge to handle going through the syllabus of a year 1 course, regardless of either university's reputation.

Are you trying to trick me into paying more money than I should?

I'll have you know, I went onto Omegle and, by disguising myself as an "f", I managed to get an Indian Civil Engineering student, in his 3rd year, to tell me 100rs is more than enough money for him to teach 'my son'.

Also, how the fuck do I even find EEE PhD students in India? (without straight up walking into an Indian campus and asking for directions)

Not the guy you replied to, but 100rs an hour is laughable.

I would guess private tuitions would cost atleast 500 an hour if you want a competent teacher.

Will not be able to answer your other questions as I'm not particularly familiar with the field.

Also, which city are you planning to stay in?

You've got a point, friend. It probably had something to do with him thinking I was a cute girl (from UK) called Priyanka.

I'm going to be in Panjab - near Jalandhar.

he is in third year so that price is justified.

why would a phd holder be willing to tutor a single person?

join a coaching institute instead, like made-easy, gateforum etc.

>why would a phd holder be willing to tutor a single person?

Because, money. I've had some brilliant tutors in the past who were also PhD students ; so I don't see how this is any different?? Besides, I've looked into those coaching programs and they're, both, not in my vicinity and structured around their own syllabuses.

I'm not really planning on leaving my house tbh. And I'll be staying in a gated community; so it should be safe enough.

if they can make 5000 an hour by teaching a batch of 300 students, why would they settle for 500 an hour teaching you?

Do PhD/Masters students really have the commitment to teach a batch of 30 students? I'm just looking for, one or two, 1 hour sessions for the duration of ~2/3 weeks.

Quit playing the Devil's advocate, and answer my question.

Anyway, I think you've falsely assumed I'm looking for someone who already holds a PhD/Master's qualification. I'm not; I'm looking for student(s).
