Yo, Critique this shit.

I'm feeling like I'm doing it wrong, But I don't want to watch a bunch of youtube videos that might influence the way I produce my sprites in a negative way.

I'm going for a specific art style, but as this is my first sprite work ever, I do need to know if it is more time effective to animate another way.

Right now I do each pose individually using the last pose as a base, but I'm thinking if I cut the body up into pieces such as torso, arms, legs, etc. That it would be easier to animate and look better at the end of the day.

What are your opinions on the matter?

Pic related, still just doing my first walk cycle.

Looks like he has a broom up his ass, man.

Look at actual videos of people walking to see how they do it. Better yet, try walking a few meters yourself. Alternatively, read the section on walk cycles from Williams' book, The Animator's Survival Kit.

Also, watch those videos. Don't be afraid to learn how (pro?) spriters do it and find an efficient way to do it from what they do.

By the way, there's an animation board, marginally more active than this board: >>>/ani/

I haven't touched anything but the legs just yet, Like I said, just getting into the cycle. I'm asking about technique in going frame by frame, not the actual art or form. Thanks anyway, though.
