How do you contain yourself?

The situation is that I'm learning how to do stuff right now. I'm 1/3 away from art and just starting programming.

but I get so inspired by other stuff I just can't help but work on my ideas instead of practicing.

I know for a fact that I'll never go back on my ideas because they look like shit, probably think of something new but similar. I don't want that to happen, what do I do?

Also how do you know that you're good enough to start?

Yeah, ideas are cancer for productivity. You have to force yourself to throw them away, don't even note them even if it is something brillant. Practise a lot. Do small stuff and by iteration. You will naturally come up with betters ideas as you gain experience. Right now no matter how good they are, if you can't do shit they are useless, you will lose time and it will destroy your motivation. What you have to do is to get practicing immediatelly, only think about your code/art and don't undulge yourself entertainment until you got your task done and working/looking well. It will bring you satisfaction and improve your motivation. The more you will disciplinate yourself, the more you will be rewared. Such satisfaction is way above playing some vydia or browsing the chans for stimulating discussions. All you have to do is to not lose track of what you really need to do.

ignore this part:"You have to force yourself to throw them away, don't even note them even if it is something brillant.", always write down your ideas, but the rest is kinda useful, wouldn't follow it to a t, but its ok advice

Check this thread for a similar discussion, this is a common problem people run into.

I find that once I get the idea written down it ceases to bug or distract me anymore. If I have one that I keep thinking of instead of working, I'll go ahead and take the 5-30 minutes to write down all that is running through my head and then get back doing real work. I think taking that break is more productive than trying to work when not focused.

I don't, I vomit my idea autism all over everyone and continually obsess over them to the point of detriment to my happiness, because I know I lack the dicipline to practice until I'm good enough (nor the mind to create a quality product)
