Aw yeah. Now we're talking.
Does your P rank ever go down? I know failing two goals in a row drops your idol from production for a season, but I'd like to throw away one goal just so I can spend it on the DLC content.

Chihaya's ex ep 2 was okay. They didn't go into the specifics about her past but the reasoning was good enough.
I'm annoyed that they only mentioned writing letters to her mother again just to tie into the movie but I did notice in the credits roll that the movie and million live staff were involved in this game somehow. The ending felt predictable a bit with Leon being saved for ep 3 I was disappointed that the new extends can only be used in solo work making them pretty much worthless unlike the song which made more sense.

>>1719Takane or Ritsuko probably. Oh right and the Twins tend to throw around slang or nonsense words. Takane uses outdated formal language if I remember correctly, while Ritsuko tends to use wider vocabulary as in more business words. Chihaya also uses some words like that occasionally but not as frequently as Ritsuko for example music related vocabulary. But that's more due to my lack of vocab in general.
Takane is hard to understand at first but once you learn a bit about the outdated grammar she's using it's not so bad. Besides that the idols are pretty understandable the majority of the time.
I haven't taken any tests but I'd say my level of understanding is probably around N3. Which is defined as:
>Intermediate Level: The ability to understand Japanese used in everyday situations to a certain degree.
>One is able to read and understand written materials with specific contents concerning everyday topics. One is also able to grasp summary information such as newspaper headlines. In addition, one is also able to read slightly difficult writings encountered in everyday situations and understand the main points of the content if some alternative phrases are available to aid one’s understanding.
>One is able to listen and comprehend coherent conversations in everyday situations, spoken at near-natural speed, and is generally able to follow their contents as well as grasp the relationships among the people involved. No.1752

Sometimes I feel that a bit of intuition aided with emotions conveyed by the in-game models really help at few times.

Just please, no more imas 2 style training. That shit was mind numbing boring and tedious, holy shit. OFA had it right by leveling them up by actually playing the game rather than whatever kind of bullshit minigame you'd call those training sessions. The fuck were they thinking there, honestly. I also like the Fureai system since it pretty much just lets you view scenes whenever you want (although I wish there was some option to list the scenes instead of only playing the last one you viewed)
>>681I'm no longer an iM@S secondary, but I'm still a filthy CG secondary. Is there any way to verify that account if you're a foreigner? I mean literally any way. Do I need to beg someone on here or lang8 or something? The anime series made me want to play it.

No.2254
>>2252Nah I'm not saying they should limit the content. Just add an extra mode so people who would like to replay the game have the option to by adding in extra challenges or what not.
I like the lessons, but I also like the option to pay in game money to get the same benefits as I always sucked at them which really limited my success in previous games. They really should have offered a training mode where you can just practice at the mini games instead of wasting in game time and money. I like the fureai system, but at the same time I felt like the day off commus in OFA covered less than previous day off commus did. Also I didn't realize I'd miss business commus until there was only two per rank. I do like the option of rewatching commus, and they should have done that with all of them instead of just the story ones.
Honestly there is no reason to support that mobile scam. All it is is gambling for digital cards. You can look up online for the card lines and theater comics if you're interested in those. Just wait for CG to get an actual game, it's already trademarked for arcades so that should get ported in a year or so like it did for 765.
No.2255
>>2254Yeah, I think my favorite part of the game was the end with the S3 and S2 rank up festivals. Really engaging, challenging, and rewarding. The game needed more of that, really is iM@S at its finest IMO. The game itself usually doesn't have much depth to it but rank up festivals just stand out because they force you to be more creative to win.
>Honestly there is no reason to support that mobile scam.Hah, it's funny, that was exactly my way of thinking up until this point in time. I was tempted by the anime series, but I usually write off mobage because in my experience they play like MMOs. A huge sink of time and money that you don't really enjoy playing, but has just enough small scraps of content or enjoyment spread here and there to keep you hooked. No matter how much shiny cards lure me in it's usually not worth it.
I really do wish for CG to get an actual game but at the same time I feel as though I'm holding my breath for something that's probably not coming. I can still dream, though. Any specific place I can find those card lines and stuff?
No.2256
>>2255I liked how OFA handled it's system. It really encourages you to experiment to win at times instead of just spamming the same strategy. Another thing I liked is you can actually use slow songs, unlike 2 where you need to spam the fastest BPM to win. Admittedly most go through the game play just to get to the communications. But if you're going to spend hours of your time on it, might as well make it interesting.

Man, this is so true and it hurts. Don't get me wrong, I know my Japanese, been able to read some visual novels (well, actually only Little Busters, the common route, Kurugaya's and the EX routes) with the handy help of Translation Aggregator (for reading kanji, mostly). I have what I'd call a 'core' understanding of the languange, I'm able to identify type of words and grammar, I understand most conjugations forms and stuff. My major problem is reading kanji, it's too damn tiring for me. At least on PC I can workaround with Translation Aggregator which pretty much reads the kanji for me, but playing Idolm@ster and any other Jap geemu on consoles is really frustrating. Of course I can look up unknown kanji by radical, but even doing that usually takes its sweet fucking time (it's frustrating how to see you've spent like 5 minutes looking for a kanji compound word while your idol is waiting and your PS3 is heating lol)
I study kanji daily, but I guess my problem is that I'm not serious about reading practice.
Anyway, how do you guys cope with unknown kanji/ words while playing Idolm@ster? Suggestions?

Few suggestions if you will:
- Concerning your Japanese study, you might need to rearrange your priorities. If you're really struggling with Kanji lesson, spend less time on it and shift your learning focus toward the compound words instead. It might be more practical as you will be learning the exact meaning of the words while developing intuition about the meanings of each kanji and their relationships in between; essentially hitting two birds with one stone.
- You sound a bit exaggerating about the time taken to search said compound word. But if that's the case, maybe you can save time by running an electronic dictionary while playing the games. On personal experience, it's a lot faster than having to open a paper dictionary.

Right now, I'm rocking the F-14D -AZ- during the Wardog ranking tournament repeat, hoping that I may somehow break through the top 5000 when all is said and done. I generally prefer my X-29A, but that's not im@s-related.

It was, which makes it even more infuriating when you consider that it's a free-to-play title with a shitty stamina-based system.
That said, Scamco ran their Area 88 special drop event again last month, and the last few ranking tournaments were almost all repeats, save for the Naval TDM that was pushing X2's Varcolac Squadron, so it's more likely that they'll do another im@s run. Guys, what's the fucking deal with the SP DLCs?
I have the DLC from the NPXP00100 rar as I presume most people do. I don't know the exact contents of that NPXP00100 DLC, but check these pictures, they are inside the rar and they should correspond to: Catalog #15 - April 28, 2010 and Catalog #16 - May 26, 2010, at least according to http://www.project-imas.com/wiki/THE_iDOLM@STER_SP_DLC.
That makes think that the NPXP00100 rar does contain those DLCs, but I didn't see them when I played Wandering Star; sure there was some DLC but not those from the pictures...
Once again, the Project-imas DLC page states:
Items downloaded from Catalog #4 and upwards and the catalog itself require ==Download Plus==, a 5 MB file that can be ==downloaded on the PSN==. Download Plus allows players to use and download newer items and at the same time ==block users who use a Custom PSP Firmware== from using newer items. ==Even if one downloads a file directly from the PSN, it can't be used if Download Plus doesn't work.==
So is it possible that there's more DLCs on that rar but can't be accessed because of that anti CFW 'Download Plus' shit?
And I was told that you can't access PSN from PSPs anymore, so does that mean it isn't possible in this day and age to get those DLCs anymore, even legally?
Any way to get those DLCs requiring Download Plus working on CFW'd PSPs or PPSSPP? I'm especially interested in those Dramas, especially the one with Iori with her bangs down D:

Ok, just patched the iso, but now PPSSPP won't read the DLC, and it DID read the DLC from the NPXP00100 folder in /PSP/GAME before patching the iso.
Or maybe PPSSPP is unable to read the DLC after patching the iso? I'll try it later on my PSP though, but I plan to play this game on PPSSPP.
And just to be sure, the what how should the DLC folder in PSP/GAME be named? NPXP00100 or ULJS00168 (for Wandering Star for example)
Because here https://archive.moe/a/thread/60492036/#60513289 is said to make a copy of DLC folder and rename it according to the game, but it doesn't specify what to do with such copied folder.

Now playing Ami-tachi's route with Cheat Engine + Translation Aggregator, there are some 'issues' I'm still trying to figure out using this hooking method, though. But it works for me.
Now a few questions about the game:
1) Do the interactions you have with the rival idols have a major impact in your playthrough? There are skippable events featuring the rivals in the first stages of of the game, I guess these are there only to get to know the girls. But I remember that towards the end of each route (at least the two I've played) there's a choice to either spend a week with the rival or your idol, does this affect your playthrough in any way?
2) I've seen images of TV performances of the rival idols, how is that possible if you can't produce them? Is this something from Free Produce?
3) Those goals you set in Free Produce are the conditions you have to met to beat the game in that mode?
4) And just to make sure, but I noticed that the items I get from people in Free Produce remain available in the Story Produce, I guess it's handy to try getting all the items in Free Produce mode so you can focus on raising your idol in Story Produce

1). I'm unsure of it, but regardless of the interactions happening with the rivals, they will back down for the final showdown, leaving the trophy for you to grab.
2). S4U-like mode is available within Office Mode for SP. In said mode, you can arrange any idols to perform any available song.
To access it, you need to enable LAN for your PSP. For PPSSPP V1.01 users, it can be enabled within the program settings.
3). I'm unsure of what do you mean by beating this game. To finish that mode, you simply need to play it until the end. You can have different endings depending on your performance and actions throughout the gameplay.
Those goals that you were mentioning are still worth something. They grant you achievements which raises your producer rank (Essentially a bragging right) should you complete them.
4). Yes, and the other way around works too.

Also, tried the Office mode in both unpatched Perfect Sun and Missing Moon. Can't start the mode in PS, it leads me back to the first screen saying that the game uses an autosave function. I'm not sure what is happening, but with my basic understanding of Japanese, it says that it cannot determine the firmware version it runs on. Maybe you can look into that.

Well, I worked it out using JPCSP and checking the Disable DLC decryption option under configuration. So yeah, now I can use the DLC in the Office Mode. However, although the game runs fine in this emulator some items look kinda transparent. I don't mind it that much, but in case anyone wants to watch TV performances with the girls using DLC stuff on PPSSPP, you can use JPCSP, save the video, and transfer the video save data to PPSSPP. I was able to do it.
Now this might be only relevant for those desiring to play the untranslated routes:
Using JPCSP has an upside for me: I'm using Cheat Engine as a text hooker but the problem with using this hooking method is that you have to look up text for pretty much each scene type of the game (example; morning, afternoon, night, lesson, audition, etc., they all have different hex addresses so if you to hook a particular scene's text you have to search its separate hex address. I guess, though, that only the communication and story events are worth hooking). That being said, you should understand that you have to look up text several times, but the problem with using PPSSPP is those text addresses expire each time you reset the game, so you'd have to search text again! But with JPSCP the hex addresses never change, and you can save them in Cheat Engine.
I'm only using Cheat Engine instead of ITHVNR as text hooker because for some reason my save data won't load on PPSSPP 0.9.8, the only PPSSPP that supports ITHVNR for hooking the game's text. I made a tutorial of it, the thread should be here.

Well, I finished Ami-達's route in SP, man were those lolis fun. But my main concern keeps being Takane and her circumstances in the SP setting Is she a alien or something?! I don't remember well about Iori's and Yukiho's, but pic related speaking of needing a rocket to go home... Also in the event before the Idol Ultimate when you spend the day with her in the amusement park and enter some kind of space ship attraction she was longing for it to fly like a genuine space ship. She also said that her idol life is for the sake of finding and helping her dispersed fellow countrymen (more aliens?) Wtf?! I wanna know more lol Of course I'm conscious that it's possible that she was just made mysterious just for the fuck of it without further foundation, but is there any official info or material that elaborates on her background in the SP series?
