I've always loved /d/ and /ss/, but unfortunately, with the rise of exhentai, booru sites, and fakku, people don't need to come to imageboards to get their hentai anymore. These days, the boards are just worthless dumping grounds, with almost no exceptions. There's no community or board culture anymore. People just show up, fap, and leave, and while that was often the case, it's much more egregious now, because there's less people overall.
These days, it seems like the only board culture left is the cunny/hebe culture. Of course, if you're not into little girls, you're not going to be able to participate.
I miss the old days of not4chan, when people would actually post comments, and share links, and discuss stories. You'd even have people working on little projects. These days, it's just one guy silently dumping, and everyone else silently fapping. It fucking sucks.

I used to feel right at home in the old /sft/ threads, they died and it's the same few circlejerkers over at /ssft/ these days though.
Before that, /v/ was my home back when no-one spoke about vidya, best times, I felt it truly died when /vg/ and "secondary tertiary" subject rules were added, more people came in, no-one posted OC, while posts were becoming shorter and shorter.
Eventually I lost my motivation to even browse.

It's shit, and most threads there are a waste of time, but it's my home. No matter what other board I go to and try to feel at home in, I can never forget the place /v/ has in my heart.
Just yesterday we had a thread that, from the OP, looked like a thread trying to incite rage (Linking to a video from some liberalfag about vidya being racist), but down the way someone posted a webm of Mr. Rogers in his twilight years, talking about the connection he's made with people. It sparked a whole reflection on the goodness of people, what we can do to revive the love and passion for fellow beings that seems to be lost in this age. The real topic at hand is something that you would've never guessed the thread would focus on, looking at it from face value (OP).
That's what /v/ is to me. A place that feels like a waste of time on the surface, but holds a place of belonging, deep inside.

Daily spam used to be a common troll attempt rather than plain spam.
One of the more colorful ones was piccolo dicking vegeta, which the mods began banning on site much more than the others, thus spurring the spammer to do it more, and others to make edits.
"Here's your daily dose" to which people began replying "Thanks doc"
This became such a well established meme it pretty much became the default joke colors of /v/
Then Green and Purple remix of Green and Yellow came out, and daily dose became intrinsically linked to weed.
So on and so forth, people using it as /v/ and general chan colors in whatever project they were in, GG rolls around. Vivian James is created with the colors as centerpiece, all our flags and banners now have it, etc.

I know that feel, but in terms of website. Since the exodus, I've been using reddit more to my own horror and personal self loathing. 8chan may be better, but it's slow, even on the most popular boards which are fairly shitty most of the time anyway.
I'm trying to rectify this problem by removing the top boards, find small boards which I'm actually interested in and contribute more often. To be frankly honest, a good post which doesn't get responded to for weeks is better than a shitpost.
Oh, also my home board will always be /ck/. Making good food and meals is one of the purest ways you can show appreciation. Good food is literally an expression of how much you want others to survive and continue living.

You know what would really help? Functionality which allows you to set up a feed which collects posts from any board you want to include, similar to this, http://britfa.gs/*/ basically. Hell, set it up so you can have multiple feeds which could effectively end up as your own personal boards.
I'm sure this feature was being planned at some point, but maybe it's been saved for this Infinity Next project.
