Alternative chansite general thread

During the exodus many anons were unsure of where to migrate. Luckily, Masterchan and, more importantly, 8chan managed to enter the limelight. Next time, should Hotwheels fail us, we might not be so lucky.

ITT:
Share links to alternative chansites, preferably with a brief summary about it and how good you think it is.

Example:
>massively populated chan with a long history and boards for lots of topics, but with no way to create your own boards
>it's a decent site but the moderation has gone downhill recently
>overall 6/10

I have this. A bit dated though.

Here is something amusing:

http://schismtracker.org/sc

Schismtracker is a opensource reimplementation of old music tracking softare, Impulse Tracker, with support of modern hardware and operating systems.

And developer uses kareha messageboard engine to communicate with the community. Those guys a pretty far away from your average anon, so it's fun to see other evoultionary branches of chan culture.

IIRC siteauthors of CCCP codec pack was linking to an imageboard some time before, but otherwise I don't know any other example of boards being used today for something more than abstract discussions.

There was REchan which was used to develop a public domain libc.

this just got posted today:

>So I'm going to be closing Openchan soon. I don't really give a shit about it anymore, especially considering I rarely talk with the people I founded it with and the culture no longer appeals to me. I'll be closing it down on the 28th, and repurposing the server for other things. If you'd like an SQL dump or an archive (god knows why) email me at notlily@cock.li, hit me up on Tox at donner@toxme.se, or shoot me a message on Rizon.

nntp-overchan

Decentralized network of independent image boards synced with NNTP. Its strength lies in not having a central point of failure. Everyone can host a frontend and do whatever they want with it. Frontends can selectively filter or thrust each other with their posts and even moderation. If one node fucks up somehow (as happened few times), overchan with everything in it still prevails on other frontends that people go to or host themselves.

Most nodes are hosted on darknet allowing true anonymity (there was a clearnet frontend at some point but it's down now). CP is forbidden on most frontends. Only hiddenchan has a CP board which you can easily avoid. Both parties happy!

I think this is the future of image boards. Lately hotwheels took interest in it too. He posted there. He wants to develop a frontend software that is more compatible with 8ch style.
https://twitter.com/infinitechan/status/565659820393787392

Overchan is small but definitely active. Pretty active for a darknet chan.

lainchan is fucking awful

I run a dead board here that gets maybe 100 posts a day and in 4 months it has passed lainchan's post count on its fastest boards

the fags from the site during that livestream hotwheels did there are some of the most obnoxious I have ever heard

HoneyChan is a relatively new chan with a focus on being open to freedom of speech. The small community focuses less on discerning shitposting from regularposting and focuses on whether or not the content if fun and creative. There are a few board right now ranging from Technology to Anime to Music. /b/ has essentially no rules and is open to any posting legal under United States jurisdiction. /lambda/, the programming board, tries to coordinate projects for programmers to join and is a great place to find useful scripts and some (possibly) really computer knowledgeable persons.

>I know right there's nothing wrong with tripcodes.

Tripcodes, to many, are a spit in the face of anonymous culture. It is claiming an identity and history without merit. It is unwarranted self importance.

On /tg/ we don't mind name/tripfagging much because often times it's someone who has earned it. Someone who is making something or is well versed. Else-wise its a resident troll who is courteous enough to make filtering easy.

Other boards, those ingrained in chan culture proper, often only have two reasons to use trips. Confirming authenticity of source, or being a massive attention whore. Why the fuck should I care who you are? What makes your posts so much more important that they should be linked back to all the others from your person? You're doing yourself a disservice, as anyone who reads your post will know it was from your character and not anybody.

I'm not sure about you but I, and other anons I've seen comment on anon culture, ignore tripfags out of habit.

31bf19 No.407

>>394 then they would be retarded newfags.

Post content, not identity, you fucking retards

I swear that's why gamergays are such a failure, they're all newfaggots like that.

anyway, due to the fact the fastest horsefucker board here only has like 6000 posts, ponychan was full of cancer at the time, and 4/mlp/ is still compromised by Scruffy, all the commies lit off and built their own chan.

The only cancer you'll find here is sometimes russian newfags post nothing but pics from joyreactor which, like all faggory daggory russian sites spits its watermark all over the image even in the fucking EXIF

>>236 All the most cancerous tripfaggots have left for ponyville.us which is like DeviantTart in chan form.

They even get namefags that work on the show popping in from time to time, since it's nigh-impossible to ruse.

So many people name/tripfag that anonymous itself could technically count as a name. And no one ever changes, even as a joke, so they may as well be registered accounts.

>>274 Don't be such a fucking pussy faggot, get on the rabb.it and bunny hop'em into hell

Also onechan is still up but got taken over by a jew that loves his clickbux ads, so I'll spare everyone the aggravation of linking their new digs. It's similar to 5chan-ru in that you get "wait 5 seconds" ads for each and every image

What a massive failboat. It's basically anonib minus board creation.

31bf19 No.408

Werchan

https://www.guhnoo.org/

>weird textboard + images hybrid exclusively made in Werc, an "anti-framework" developed by Uriel Pereira before his suicide originally for Plan 9 from Bell Labs / 9front

>heavily based upon Free/Open Source Software, General Technology, and Vidya

>"community" mostly made from 4chan's /g/ board, and 8chan's /tech/ regulars

>very slow, but generally a pretty unique *chan overall, though the software behind it might need some extra polishing

there's 99chan, but I don't visit it often enough to fabricate a full opinion about it
