NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

2015 is almost here. How will you improve for the new year? What habits will you sacrifice? What habits will you adopt? What's the best new year's resolution to make?

The main thing for me is going to be getting back a daily rhythm.

Going to bed at the (more or less) the same time everyday, and getting up on the same time. My work is very flexible but usually in the evening, so it's tempting to play vidya 'til deep in the night and sleep 'til 12:00 o'clock. Not a huge deal since I get 7-8 hours of sleep and sometimes simply study in the night, but it gets embarrassing when people ring the door during the day and think I must never work.

Habits I want to adopt:
1. Get some kind of nighttime ritual, perhaps involving a short meditation. Turn off pc at least 30 min. before sleeping.
2. Lay out clothes for next day
3. Make to-do list for next day
4. Study away from the computer. Just set a timer. For a short time at first, and then work towards longer times.
5. Answer e-mails as soon as I read them. Set aside a time for that.
6. Make dinner plan for the week.
7. Keep a journal.

Habits to sacrifice:
1. Showers of 30 minutes or more.
2. Playing vidya late in the night. It gets me pumped up and makes it hard to fall asleep. Will stick to playing in the evening.
3. Ordering junkfood when I don't feel like shopping/cooking. I only do this once a week in the weekend but I don't want to do it at all.

Best resolution? I don't know if there's a best resolution, anything that you can stick with is valuable. Just the accomplishing of a goal itself.
For me I think setting a sleep schedule will be the best way to start.

OP here

I gave up on soft drinks, candy and television a long time ago, but this year I think it's time I finished the job. Going to stop eating junk food altogether, as well as pie. I don't even like most of that stuff, and I know I can live without oreos.

I've been seeing a whole lot of anti-porn sentiment here. I've been fapping everyday for a while, so maybe I've forgotten what it was like when I wasn't on porn. I'm not going to do a no-porn year, but I'm definitely going to try abstaining from it more just to see if it makes a difference

>I gave up on soft drinks, candy and television a long time ago,

That's pretty awesome. I gave up on soft drinks years ago as well, don't even find it tasty anymore.

I don't really understand the anti-porn stuff here either. I guess it makes sense if you feel it interferes with the rest of your life, I don't know how common that is for anons. I don't see the problem with jacking off everyday. I guess with porn it depends on how easy you can still separate it from your sex-life.

Going to change anything else diet-related? I see people on here talk about GMO's and paleo and other things but I've never been convinced that there is a major advantage to paleo compared to simply eating more fresh vegetables and avoiding junk.
That being said, a lot of paleo sites have good recipes.

>GMO's
Every organism on the planet is "genetically modified". And I'm not going to make a diet change over something this politicized. Not until I see something convincing.

I guess I'm thinking about putting more fish in my fridge, but that about covers it.

And regarding porn, if I ever forsake my wizardhood for a succubus I'd just set my fap folder aside and do the real thing. But in the meantime I soldier on in sadpanda land.

I looked up the research for no-fap/no-porn/ and paleo, raw-veganism, gluten-free diets. Neither of them is convincing nor backed up by rigorous science. It's ok if you wanna do it, but I don't think it brings any real advantage as opposed to eating a healthy, balanced diet and not being addicted to porn.

Fish has the best kind of Omega3, DHA.

made a new years resolution of getting a qt gf. hasn't happened yet, but i talked to a gril today and even though it didn't turn out well, im still glad i did it

>see qt with her friend on metro

>make eye contact a few times
>get off at the same stop as them
>tell qt i think she's qt and ask for her number
>she has boyfriend

it was very poorly executed as well, i kinda cringe thinking about it. but it wasn't so bad

Well done man, you're on the right path. Practice makes better, today it might have been cringy, but keep practising and soon, talking with a girl will be like second nature to you.

thanks man, i feel like it would have gone a lot better if i wasn't high at the time, but whatever. i think the main reason i actually talked to her was because i was high, and felt strong emotion. i'm gonna try approaching a girl sober tomorrow and see what happens
