Can anybody recommend any workout apps that are superior to this?

In my opinion, apps for this are superfluous. I did the 100 pushups thing. It helped me get up to 20 in a row, but then it just stopped helping. My body didn't keep up.
If you don't have access to weights, progress to a more difficult excercise that targets the same muscles once you've hit, say, 5x10. That should be about it. Other than that, just pick excercises that target parts of your body you feel need to be trained.
Also, triceps dips are apparently bad for your shoulders. Something to do with how they put pressure on your shoulder joints.
Aren't step ups cardio?
And situps target your hip flexors, not your abdominals. Planks are better. Google scoobys rotisserie workout. Don't overdo it, I hurt myself first time trying it because I did it until failure, which was when I couldn't hold myself up any more. If you start shaking, you're about to sacrifice form, methinks, so stop then.

Apps can be convenient and a good way to get started, but you'd be much better served by learning how to construct a routine and making one to suit your goals and preferred schedule. Check out /r/bodyweightfitness and read the sidebar, especially the beginner info. Lots of really good shit over there.
