 No.1732

Discussion of what resources the /improve/ sticky should contain.

 No.1733

I think simple is better. My experience has proved it to be true Think about it, wouldn't it be intimidating for a newbie to see a flood of infographics and stickies?

for health/fitness liam rosen's is simple and to the point
for finances the boglehead wiki condensces a lot of financial information in a neat wiki format

don't know about other things though. maybe a recommended app for each as well, myfitnesspal supposedly is really good to keep track of calories and YNAB(you need a budget) is outstanding for budgeting and I'll vouch for it all day long.

Maybe dedicate one post per topic once we come to agree what we should have in the "starter" pack? The problem will probably come from what is intangible advice.

With finances it's as simple as spend less than you make and health/fitness eat less than you expend/run a little. But what about life advice, body language, goal setting? Those can be very good tools if you can use them well and should not be completely ignored.

Goal setting for instance slowly changed my mentality from just blindly moving along life to being a goal oriented and somewhat ambitious persona and I'd be more than happy if it can do to one or two of you what it is doing to me.

I'm thinking of it covering the following topics plus whatever people recommend
>How to overcome procrastination
>How to create habits
>How to set goals
>Maybe meditation?
>Maybe some simple /fa/ adice?
>General health fitness
>Financing
>Maybe how to overcome depression or how to tackle it? Or what to do if suicidal.
I'm not sure about this one though because a fuck up here could be bad

For fitness couldn't I just link to the /fit/ sticky?

 No.1735

A section on habitrpg would be good, especially considering that game is how we are keeping track of people's progress.

Just a simple faq and maybe some tips on creating good habits and dailies, and how to join the guild and party's

This is a really good list actually, I was wondering if maybe we could all pick one or two and do the research, stick them all in pastebins or whatever, so the admin can correlate all the info we found for the sticky. Like a group project. Could be fun. I'd like to do health and fitness and/or simple /fa/, I think I could do a good job of those.

I think I could do a pretty good job of habits at the least, maybe even procrastination

How would we know who is who? We could use trips or I could set up a guild on habitrpg for anyone who is working on this, assuming you have it

I have a burner Skype that I use for Anon shit, if you're still up when I get back from the gym in an hour or so we could plan on there, update the thread with which topics are taken, how to get in the skype group if you want to help, etc etc

I'd like to also recommend

Good reccomendation

> sticky should contain.
infographics and screencaps of quality posts

 No.1861

I think /improve/ needs to have a unique background layout to stand out from the crowd.

Combine that with a quality well thought through sticky and a motivating community and this board becomes pure gold.

Also, I think in the sticky there should be a post outline common barriers to self improvement and tactics to tackle it. As well as a /improve/ approved book and movie list.

 No.1862

Btw anyone know any good sites which we could make the sticky's home? Sort of like fa's sticky website

 No.1864

Post your burner skype name

 No.1883

How about links to other boards that can help people improve?

 No.1885

>>1883
That could be in the /improve/ approved boards, blogs, sites etc

 No.1894

Just wanted to say that fucking love this place. I've made several OP's here and it's the most posting I've done in years. This place is a sanctuary.

Whatever the sticky has I'd like for it a few things that inspire/uplift. Maybe every other week we can submit to the the BO a video or an article that inspires us.

That'd be neat, plus it would introduce some sort of enticement for people to return.

Here's a site we could make the sticky in.

 No.2137

>>2128
http://generalimprovement.wikia.com/wiki//improve/_Wikia

This one would be easier to work with. Ignore the name because it can be changed and if not we'll just abandon this one and make a new one.

Any suggestions on the name of the wikia? Also, I think we should go with the idea proposed above and make a skype group.

Just like this guy here. I just want to say thanks to all of you. Every day when I have hard time I come here, read few newest posts and this charges me with confidence and courage and I do what needs to be done. /improve/ has brought so much little improvements and new good habits in my everyday life as no one things in my life before. I can't remember how and why I came here in the first time but it was truly happy coincidence.
