Stress Coping General
Teach me how to chill
I've heard that stress is a good thing, if there's too much or too little we get distress, but with just enough we get eustress

I've found two techniques.
First, remember that you will die. You and everyone you know will be dead one day relatively soon. Before us there have been billions of people struggling and stressing and now it doesn't matter. Nobody even remembers their names, let alone their struggles. And regardless of your actions, there will come a day for you that you are completely forgotten. Knowing this, ask yourself - is what I'm stressing about really an issue? Does this really matter? What good is it to feel this way?
Alternatively, you could just zoom out. Picture yourself wherever you are. Sitting at a desk, taking a shit, whatever. Pull away a bit, now you're looking at your neighborhood, your city. Full of people having their "crucial" concerns. Do you care about them? Do their concerns really matter? Neither do yours. Pull out more - now you see your country. Your continent. Full of people, and you're one of them. How insignificant everything seems from up here. Now go further - you see the world. The entire planet, full of people bustling about worrying over silly shit. So what? Now you're even further away, you see our planet floating in the infinite void of space. If our entire planet disappeared today, it would make no difference.
Be free from your worries. You get one chance to be alive, and what a gift it is. Don't spoil it by purposely reducing your quality of life by fretting about things that don't matter.

Why do anything?
or
Why NOT do anything?

In my mind, the difference between eustress and malstress is one of content, not quantity. Eustress pushes you to do things you need to do and can go away if you fulfill your responsibilities. Malstress pressures you about things you can't change and eats away at you if you let it. Recognizing the difference allows you to handle stress appropriately.
Being overwhelmed by malstress can make you want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, so to say. You'll want to run away from your problems if it's overwhelming. If you can block out malstress while still allowing yourself to be pushed in the right direction by eustress, you'll be much better at handling your problems.
