So /improve/, I need some guidance.

I officially dropped out of high school today.

I could not have graduated at all. By the time I would be able to graduate, I'd be 21 and couldn't legally attend high school.

I've got 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to myself, and I'd like to get a daily improvement routine going on.

I'm thinking

>Shower and brush teeth

>Maybe watch some chinese cartoons
>Walk one hour a day
>Do some pushups and situps

That's all I got thought out.

I'm mainly interested in losing weight, as I'm 17, 6'4'', and ~280 pounds. Anybody have some advice for me? I'm feeling pretty lost in where I go from here.

You should also probably get a job, it would keep you well away from future dispair, and it's possible you could do a GED test to apply for a community college

 No.1887

I don't live in the US so the education system here is different but who knows, this may be an available option for you like it is here.

Here you can apply to retake or take for the first time(assuming you're over a certain age) the equivalent of the graduation exams as an external student, meaning you don't have to go back to school to do it. You basically do all your study at home and when the time for the exams comes you take the graduation exams at exam centres or a school of your choice.

Out of interest, how is that you ended up in the position where you will graduate at 21?

I'll be working with my dad occasionally doing contracting. Basic home improvement work like kitchen/bathroom bullshit.

>>1887
Once turn 18 in a few months, I'll be getting my GED, which is a high school equivalency.

Anyways, as a freshman, I broke my ankle, and couldn't fucking walk for two weeks. So I couldn't come in to school, and that put me in a sort of educational purgatory where I needed to still attend my classes, despite not being able to get credit for them because I missed "too many days."

Come sophomore year, I was in all the same freshman classes, and figured "fuck it." I began cutting most of my classes, depression sunk in for a while, etc. Junior year, I barely went to any classes at all.

Now I was halfway through my senior year, still without any fucking credit, so I convinced my parents to finally let me drop, since I couldn't get anything even if I tried.

I also dropped out and for similar reasons. Fucked up school bureaucracy that would require an extra year or two from me.

The job idea was a good one. You're gonna need something to do, especially at first. You suddenly have an assload of free time on your hands and your friends will still be in school all day. You'll need some project or job or something like that, otherwise you'll spend way more time than's healthy staring at a screen.

Also, don't sweat the GED. A 9th grade education will get you through it, it's piss easy. Do the practice tests and assignments they give you, they don't take long and make the whole process even easier.

If you're still considering college, a decent GED score will get you into a community college. A few years there with a solid GPA will get you into a better one. If you take this route, try and knock out mostly general required courses at the CC, so you can take more specialized classes elsewhere.

 No.1896

You've fucked up and you've fucked up bad. You're 3 years behind. Not just any 3 years but 3 years of primetime development.

Whatever your NEETdom brings you, I hope it's worth it.

>'ll be working with my dad

>occasionally
Occasionally is not worth it.

No kidding, GED should be his first priority but man, all that time just gone…fugg.

Maybe I was too harsh OP but dude get it together. Work, get exp, do something other than being a NEET. It's imperative.

OP YOU HAVE TIME OH FUCK YOU HAVE SO MUCH TIME

>I'm mainly interested in losing weight, as I'm 17, 6'4'', and ~280 pounds. Anybody have some advice for me?

try myfitnesspal for dieting, specific training routines you'll have to ask someone else though, i'm not too comfortable giving advice there.

Dude, drop out get your GED and enroll in a CC. Even if it's for a shit lib art degree. By getting a degree the GED is basically overlooked and you're a "success story" rather than a failure. You have to play by society's rules unfortunately and this will open doors. Even a shit degree opens doors in right situations and you never know. Work with your father definitely, do it more than occasionally, get a hobby that needs money if you need motivation.

maybe something physical while you're at it. you need money for a car and gas to get you to your place where you lose weight and get fit. boom, motivation. Just try dude, life is so full of possibilities it's not even funny. Those stories of 25+ years old posters that are NEETs are incredibly sad once you get older and realize just how much of nothing they experience. Don't get to that point. You have time. God, I thank every day those poor NEET bastards who warned me when I was 17 on halfchan.

This. I know it's gay to say "this" but I agree with the above poster.

Thanks anons, I'll be getting my GED once I turn 18 in ~9 months, as New York doesn't offer a GED program. I'll be staying in another state with family.

As for my motivation to make money, I'm a/k/unt, and guns aren't cheap.

 No.1933

Absolutely get your GED but remember that vocational training is a legitimate alternative to a degree. If you are interested, become an apprentice in some skilled labor field (electrician, welder, technician, etc.) and you'll be set without having to go to a four-year university.

If you do want to go to a university then two years at CC is absolutely the way to go. Universities really don't give a fuck about what you did before CC if you pull good grades.

Just don't go to a for-profit scam school because that will fuck you harder than getting a shit degree from a real university.

>vocational training is a legitimate alternative to a degree

this is true but unfortunately vocational training is on goddamn fire right now. It's starting to become the new lib art degree. Like anything it can work but remember this piece of advice: They do charge and that means they're not altruistic. Make sure you know what you're getting into and that's hard without knowing what it is you're going to in the first place.

I say, GED first, get a fucking job and not a service one, then make plans to go to CC. Either use the pell grant and enjoy the freebie, or pay it out of your own pocket. Hopefully by putting some skin in the game you start realizing how even the best of institutions cost money, or at the very least try it on the tax payer's dime and see if it's for you.

>>1947
Drop out of what, hs or college? If hs then yeah you're fucked bigtime. If college then don't keep doing something that obviously isn't working. Get a job and see if you can find some clarity from that. I say this from personal experience, when you actually work and get a paycheck and know firsthand what it takes and what is required it is much easier to make a decision in regards to what you want and what you need to do.

University. I actually plan to go back, I'm going to take some distance learning courses and get some sort of job and sort of figure myself out. My problem is that I breezed through HS and didn't learn anything.

Have you heard of job corps? It is worth looking into. Each state has a different set of license they help you acquire. Worth looking into.

Definitely plan on returning, for all that I rail on colleges they're not completely bad if you know how to use them. Just get any romanticism out of college or what have you out of your head ASAP.

It's a business and you should treat it as such. Get your money's worth. Same goes for any place that is selling itself saying it will teach you something. Don't just research it but actually talk to people if you can that work in the field about it and see what they think and their opinions.

When I started working this is what turned me off of some vocational schools and turned me on to certain certifications.

For example I'm doing an AAS degree at a local CC that I found out because a coworker said they offered classes in a branch of inspection that we do. Saw that the class was part of this bigger department. Looked it up, and found that it was incredibly detailed in what we do. Sure it's blue collar and an AAS but compared to some vocational schools it's about half the price, for 3x the class time AND hands on time for real certifcaton, class sizes smaller, times more flexible(instead of a week or month off i can get night classes) and gives you a degree to boot.

Look out constantly for opportunity my negro. Use the fucking internet once you've found what you want to do. There is so much information on this thing it's reedikulous.

Everyone knows age doesn't matter as much as the time you were born in, now quit overreacting.

You are infinitely fucked without a GED. You will literally not be able to support yourself. Get GED, get job experience.

He's exactly right. Besides any judgment of charcter that may follow, escapism is terrible in general. You find yourself wasting time, living lives that are not yours, learning little and building nothing. Keep that shit to a minimum.

Set up a few hours a day for study, you're gonna need that GED for later when you get a job. If you live at home with parents or relatives, make sure to put in at least 3-5 hours of house work a day, cooking/cleaning/whatever, you have to make sure you're on their good side. If you don't have it already, get a drivers licence, that's another thing you'll need if you wanna have options now/later. I would also put in a couple hours a day training in a profitable skill or hobby that could come in handy for extra cash.

And whatever you chose to do, always make sure you're better each day, don't settle for breaking even.

>daily hygiene

>daily exercise

>daily study - free certificates/courses/whatever you're interested in

>any chores

>http://7chan.org/jew/res/387.html#i387 - you're not even working, could make a fuckton of progress quickly

Let's run by a schedule

24 hrs

-8 sleep (16)

-1 walk (15)

-15m to 1hr exercise (14hr 45m to 14)

-15m shower (14hr 30m to 13hr 45m)

-1 to 4 study (13hr 30m to 12hr 45m, 10hr 30m to 9hr 45m , or some custom range)

-15m chores (13hr 15m to 12hr 30m, 10hr 15m to 9hr 30m, or some custom range)

I don't know how much shit you have to do at home, but more likely than not you could do alot of studying, keep up your hygiene, exercise, get whatever shit at home done that needs to be done, and have 1/3 of the fucking day to still watch anime. This reminded me of years ago when I had a fuckton of time and wasted most of it. Getting a ged is important, practice sat/act/admittance tests if you want to go to college. Not your only option though.

Fuck, I just saw you were working with your dad. You said occasionally, so doing any needed shit shouldn't be hard. On workdays either your cartoons or your study time will get cut into.
