Distopian, cyberpunk, tech passion.
Ever sense viewing Ghost in the shell, Bladerunner, other sci-fi distopian future movies, startrek as a pre teen, I have been captavated by the hyper advanced technology and vision of what we as people could acheave, and the possible implacations of are use with such technology.
Fuck my grammer, fuck my spelling, fuck my sentince structure.
I am not a writer in anyway, nor do I strive to be one.
This shit may come off a bit emoish, but I really don't care. Simply thoughts to words with something I have enjoyed.]
The glamer of the neon lights, the hustle and bussle of everyday wageslaves, the almost imperseaveable abilitys of ones talinted, augmented, cleaver, immoral enough to bend the world to there will.
The currents of power, both monitary and meta psyical, leaving its tainted touch upon everything around you, both seen and unseen.
The feeling that any moment youre number could be up, the plug pulled, youre world collapsing around you… and you still stand against it with a desperation of a person who knows there is nothing right about there world.
Some would say its a dark obsession with epicaricacy that attracts people to such things, and I can kind of aline with this my self as I have found comfort in such things as well at one time or another, even to this day.
There is the other side to this that has attracted me more so over the years as I have (slightly) matured.
The stings of dishonesty and betrayal that we all, at one time or another, feel in are lives… But yet never giving up, never surrendering. That feeling that the person who should by all rights died over and over again, gets back up and takes the fight to them…
Of corse there are the times the engagements end in a sudo draw, yet they are still alive, with a better understanding of the odds against them, as well as there own limitations.
I can understand why alot of people pass on cyberpunk, distopian, style sci-fi media.
[I'll try to convay this as well as I can]
Lets look at J.R.R. Tolkien's Lotr, as well as R.A. Salvatore's forgotten relms.
They are also based hevily in fantasy, yet they lack "real world" possibilitys of what we as people could acheave. They all place a "hero" or set of "heros" to battle some evil. Sure there has been use of the distopian style such as Robert Jordan's "Wheel of time", but the common factor is, they always use some "Beyond real world abilitys" to conclude there storys. Yes I know Startrek is notorious for "pulling made up stuff from there arse" to solve there issues or move the plot along, but stuff such as that is still based upon advancement of technology.
Beyond are current understanding, unacheavable in are current state yes, but to quote major Kusanagi "31:00 If man realizes technolgy is within reach, he acheaves it, like its damn neer instinctive.".
Alot of people do think the tech displayed in these movies could one day be possible, how we as a people choose to use it however, is another story.
