what is the gain?
seemingly no fapping does not exclude sexual activity
and swapping out masturbation with connecting yourself with strangers energies can backfire a whole lot

everything is addiction, anyhow.. addiction is simply put your brain thinking i cant wait for next time already implying there is a next time

not feeling pleasure can be done in many other ways than excluding masturbation
for instance you could get a stick and slap whatever part of your body weakly for a long time
you wont get any real damage, but you will feel the pain, which will at some point get stronger and stronger

now everything positive should be more intense than it was before
the human brain is really not that complicated, humans..

This isn't true for everybody, but porn/fapping (and the associated hormone release) can mess with people's confidence, social skills, self-image, etc…

I think a good rule of thumb is that if it's extremely hard for you to stop, you should try to stop.

No-fap is self-loathing and the demonisation of male sexuality.

Women are the only ones who benefit from this as they would obtain a monopoly on male sexual release for a straight man.

Go ahead, don't fap, chase cunts, and invite misfortune in the form of "crying rape", venereal diseases, and the "happy accident" of pregnancy.

Witout any real studies or evidence, this is good general advise.

It doesn't hurt to grow some balls and keep them that way. It's a very simple and easy way to improve mood and assertiveness. Just takes a few days of self-discipline.

Nothing's as pathetic as the masturbation addict who is constantly tired, negative, weak, out of energy because his body desperately tries to keep his testicles loaded.

If you feel demotivated and there's a noticeable power drain in your loins, then you should seriously consider abstinence for a while. Avoiding porn and porn sites helps immensely.

It's not a miracle cure for anything though, no matter what your self-help celebrity of the week tells you. Most of them are glorified salesmen who don't know shit about thorough research and healthy scepticism.

>>58
You don't get rid of the desire. But you're free to chose if, when and how to react to it respectively to act on it. You can follow its every whim or you can do whatever you want.

>>63
You sound like one of these misogynist conspiratards on /pol/. This is not about your stupid little gender war. This is about self empowerment.

Have you ever seen the people that propagate and fight this gender war in real life? Feminists and Masculinists, non-coincidentally the least feminine and masculine members of their respective genders, dramatically play the "oppressed victim" card and call the other side names over ridiculous ivory-tower ideas of sexuality and sexual power no sane person takes seriously. Do you really want to be mistaken for one of them? It's a guaranteed way to kill any flirt in an instant. You could as well preach from the bible.

A board this small ought to be happy about this, you got a nuuuuu member!Been on a pretty slow recovery from a bad patch. I got addicted to m-kat and phet, got off that, still smoked weed, got off that and started working toward re-taking uni entrance exams, started drinking heavily on evenings and still fapping twice a day. I've gone 11 days and 6 days at different times this year but now I really want to make a go at no-fapping. I edged today before realising that waiting till the 31st was fucking stupid because it's the same as not doing it atall.

 No.85

I made an attempt at nofap about 3 years ago and managed to last 2 weeks. There were huge changes in my personality. Ultimately edging did me in.

I'm 7 days into a new attempt. It's a lot easier this time, since I'm older and have reduced sex drive, I'm taking ice cold showers once or twice a day exercising hard and not touching my dick.

Benefits, more confidence, more energy, better lifts, less brain fog.

The attitude that you should be ashamed if you jerk off or look at porn are gay as fuck. Give it a try, and if you see benefits keep with it. If they aren't worth it to you there's nothing wrong with going back to fapping.

I had porn induced erectyle dysfunction no kidding, I stopped and after 2+ months im back as I was when I was a kid. I'm 23 btw. Many many people report these changes its not bullshit, I get a boner from looking at tits now and kissing a girl.

Whereas before I had a dead look in my eyes, no motivation, not easily aroused and a dick that wasnt fully erect.

We are biologically wired to our sexuality, when an animal is horny it will be active in looking for a mate because it needs to perpetuate its genetics. This sexual energy you can use in your daily life for good things. Those aspie basement dwellers who are jacking off everyday never feel compelled to touch a girl or to shove their anxiety to the side and socialize with people because there is no sex drive. Its pathetic.

Plus when you do orgasm its always fucking fantastic, my loads are HUGE. My orgasm goes on for a few seconds whereas normally it was a very small and shortfelt.

If you can watch porn and you think that it has no negative effects on you then keep doing it. But don't take your personal experience and then try to draw general rules from it because thats stupid.

Alright, porn addiction is a real thing, but not masturbating isn't suddenly making an atheist neckbeard into a superconfident brodude. For fuck's sake, everything in moderation. You don't need a redditard to tell you this.

Could we at least agree on the idea that it's bad when you're addicted?

And it was pretty easy to get addicted for me.

I mean I just feel the need to do it everyday and it doesnt even feel good anymore because it's so frequent.

 No.300

I couldn't get it up the first time I was with a girl and hated myself for like two weeks. Stopped jacking off in hopes of being able to get it up next time.

Two weeks after that I lost my virginity, still didn't feel super into it and didn't finish. I honestly don't think porn is that much of a factor.
Sure, if you jack off for an hour before you're going to have sex it'll be a problem, but anxiety and how attracted you are to your partner is a much larger factor in the whole ED thing.

Porn addiction obviously is a bad thing and if you think you're at that point I'd suggest trying to fix it, but I'd think the majority of men are fine.

Not watching porn will probably increase your sex drive since yeah you're not cumming and your body wants to, so obviously you'll seek girls out. But don't treat not watching porn as a panacea, since there are plenty of other factors in determining sexual drive and performance.

I watch porn relatively rarely. I mainly ERP. I enjoy online friendships as a result, one of the longest has been a great support for me for several years. I feel like I learn more about interacting with people by doing it. I also feel I've become more confident and secure in myself.

I feel like people underestimate the importance your partner has in this. You're not a fucking machine that's supposed to produce boners. Stimulation without arousal can bring you to orgasm. Stimulation with anxiety cannot, unless it's intense stimulation coupled with intense arousal. It's a biological function.

I don't think that porn can't make you find normal, not pornographically-idealized people less attractive, but I don't think it has any magical properties comparable to the effects of heavy opiates. I broke that addiction, and my dongle returned to normal within a week- not that it was even non-functioning during my use! There's no difference to your brain between your hand and a butt, save for the interaction/stimulus involved with being with another person.

Maybe if I got laid and lost virginity, plus get laid every day for the rest of my life but god almighty dropping my main biological desire would probably fuck me up more. I went a month without porn once due to circumstances outside of my control, holy hell it was worse than quitting cigarettes.  No.1508

I think there's something to it, but it's probably not a profound biological change.

I think taking steps to stop doing something that you find addictive can be very powerful in of itself. Just the realization that you have that sort of agency over your life, more than anything else.

>>1349

Don't be too hard on yourself, and don't beat yourself (off) up about it.

I think it helps to realize that at any given time you have two 'voices' in your head. The constant one that wants the best for you, and the temporary one that is looking for something in the moment. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish between them, because they sound the same; the voice that says "I'm done with porn" sounds exactly like the voice that says "Uh, I might as well, it's not a big deal" etc.

Keep in mind the the first voice doesn't go away, and it is the only one you should listen to. You set about making something happen because it's meaningful to you, and there will always be momentary challenges that make it difficult. It's entirely within your power to do what you know you really want to do.

Good luck.

 No.1522

I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it here. Masturbation itself isn't necessarily the issue, porn is. I agree that you should abstain from porn AND masturbation for at least 90 days to help reset your system, but to then never masturbate ever again is stupid.

Fapping to your imagination isn't nearly as detrimental as fapping to porn is. Fapping doesn't really become an issue until it starts taking over your life or you get PIED or something. It's like alcohol; a beer or two a few times a week has negligible side effects, but it becomes a problem when you become an alcoholic and let it damage your liver and brain (having said that, masturbation should probably be a one time a week thing at most).

http://www.hknet.org.nz/celibacy.html

>We have seen that the internal secretions of the sex glands stand at the basis of the individual's physical and mental vitality and that sex hormones are present in the external as well as in the internal secretions of the gonads. Many of the effects attributed to such hormones, as we have seen, are due to the physiological effect of resorbed semen. Conservation of semen means conservation of sex hormones and increased vigor, while loss of semen means loss of hormones and diminished vitality; also chronic deficiency of such hormones leads to the symptoms of senility, which Voronoff and Steinach strove to overcome by increasing the amount of sex hormones in the blood.

>The semen is a viscid albuminous fluid, alkaline in reaction, which is very rich in calcium and phosphorus, also in lecithin, cholesterol, albumen, nucleoproteins, iron, vitamin E, etc. In the ejaculation of the normal man, about 226 million spermatozoa are given off; these are rich in phosphorized fats (lecithin), cholesterol (the parent-source of sex hormones), nucleoproteins and iron. An ounce of semen is considered to be equal in value to sixty ounces of blood, of which it constitutes an extract of some of its most valuable of constituents, as far as its vitalizing power is concerned. Dr. Frederick McCann remarks on this point, "From what has been stated it must be admitted that the spermatic fluid does possess potentialities justifying the belief of ancient writers concerning its vital properties."

>Excessive voluntary seminal losses (through masturbation, coitus, coitus interruptus, and contraceptive practices) are debilitating and harmful to the body and brain.

>Continence is beneficial to the brain (for conserved lecithin from retained semen is a true brain food.) Hence some of the greatest intellectual geniuses in ancient and modern times led continent lives. These include Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle, Leonardo da Vinci, Spinoza, Newton, Kant, Beethoven, Herbert Spencer, etc.

>The gynecologist, Ribbing, says that he has known many young men who have lived in total continence without difficulty or injury. Clarke says that continence increases health and energy, while incontinence does the reverse. According to Surbled, "the evils of incontinence are well known and undisputed; those produced by continence are imaginary." The great authority, Acton, says that the popular idea that abstinence causes the genital organs to atrophy and produces impotence is a grave error. "Chastity no more injures the body than the soul," he says. The gynecologist Hegar, considers the "sexual necessity" myth an illusion, while Ribbing, another eminent gynecologist, points out the needs for sexual control and continence. The noted physiologist, Marshall, in his "Introduction to Sex Physiology", points out the need for such restraint over the reproductive function and the sublimation of sex energy into higher cerebral forms of expression, as was the case with many intellectual geniuses of the past, who led continent lives. Dr. L. Robinowitch, a prominent American neurologist, says that "sexual continence is not only harmless but beneficial".

I stumbled upon nofap after completely failing to get it up my first several opportunities to lose my virginity, with several different chicks. It was fuckin humiliating.

After reading up on the science and an assload of anecdotal information, I decided to give it a go. What was there to lose?

Christ in heaven, did that sexual energy bring me to sin. Again and again. Those were glorious days for me. After that, I've relapsed and hopped back aboard several times, always with similar results. Feel like shit when I start looking at porn again, brainfog when I masturbate more than once daily, all that shit.

Now I stay away from porn. Not always easy, but the longer you do it the easier it gets. I still masturbate sometimes but only to mental fantasies about chicks I wanna fuck.

I don't think nofap holds benefits for everyone, but I do think it does for most younger guys. Teens to early thirties, probably. Having such an incredible and long-lasting dopamine surge in the form of infinite internet pornography really fucks you in a lot of ways. Here's an example of a big one.

Depression and desensitization to life in general. I experienced constant apathy and lethargy and nothing in real life held any appeal. Even opportunities to fuck real girls was not that tempting compared to indulging my fetishes for hours. I did a bunch of reading on my depression and symptoms and it looked like I was dopamine deficient. Took several measures including some supplements and behavioral changes to increase dopamine, but nothing. All it did was make me angry most of the time. I concluded I was wrong. But some time later I came across the concept of neurochemical homeostasis, which is a fancy was of saying your brain keeps shit as level as it can. Meaning that when exposed to an assload of dopamine over long periods, which is causes by porn and masturbation (also video games) the brain responds by reducing the number of dopamine receptors. Meaning, it takes much more dopamine to get the same sort of buzz than it did previously. As a result, only superstimuli like porn and the like feels pleasurable anymore, though not nearly as much as it once did. And every other potential source of pleasure in life starts to feel hollow and a waste of time.

 No.1701

This is the best worded post so far and you're completely right. I feel so much more responsive to dopamine from simple things when I go a week without porn. I have gone entire nights edging constantly and the next day or two I feel UTTERLY drained. It's so hard not to do it at all though, last time i went 2 weeks was like a year ago.

Can confirm. I have to try this shit again, but I pulled a 2 week (thought it was impossible, I could barely go a day without) then pulled a 1 month right after it. Even got a wet dream, a personal goal of mine. In short, I hope you enjoyed that fap because it's gonna be a while till you have another.

 No.1799

In a few weeks I'll reach the 90 day point (no porn, no masturbation, no orgasm). Once I reach that, I think I'm going to reintegrate into fapping again (and yes, even using porn), but this time take it at a much slower rate. I used to fap at least once a day, every day, but this time I'll try to keep it at once every two weeks, or perhaps as little as once a month. I'm still going to abstain from NSFW sites as often as I can, because I think that constant glimpses of sexual content throughout the day is damaging on its own and it might make me horny enough to make me fall into a fap binge.

 No.1805

I dunno if the porn's a good plan. Infinite porn seems to be a much bigger issue than regular masturbation. Give it a go if you think it'll be alright, but pay careful attention to how it affects you.

Well no shit anon, the pleasure centers that porn hits are the highest imperative in our brains aside from not dying.

I bet you're just on the computer all day, or for at least several hours. That makes it hard as fuck, especially when you've come to associate that computer time and space with masturbation. Find shit to do so you're not online so much, that makes it so much easier. Get away from the internet somehow, and delete all the porn on your computer. Shame yourself when you start to get the urge, imagining how pathetic you look bent over your computer masturbating to weird shit.

The struggle is real. I'm mostly trying this for fun though as I rarely even watch porn these days. I'll probably end up fapping in my sleep next night.

This is wallpaper that made for my current 90 days long nofap. Every evening I add little green rectangle (width 20pt). Every time when I feel that I want to fap I just minimize all my windows and stare at my wallpaper. I'm used to fap 3 times per day, so these five days that I have doing my nofap are big deal to me.

Do your best to slowly ween yourself off it, try going for a full day without doing it, then fap the next day, then try going for two days, then fap on the third day, then try it for 3 days, and so on.

It's good indeed. I already had few critical moment's in my first week when I decided that I break my nofap. And I was already going to my computer to find some fap content. But after I saw this wallpaper I was thinking: bruh, if you fail now then you will need to change this wallpaper, and think about how miserable you will be feeling yourself in that moment. And every time I was doing push-ups instead. And now eight days into nofap this I have learned to love this little green rectangle. Several times through day I look at him, I see how he have grown from yesterday (on 20 pt), and when I'm adding little greenn rectangle in the evening it's the best fucking thing in the day. Holy shit, I've never kept my nofap for whole week before. This is big deal to me and I'm already think that I can go through it (90 days nofap).

 No.2293

After years of masturbating non-stop I finally made the habit of fapping once every seven days, preferrably on Friday.

I'm pretty sure our bodies weren't evolutionarily developed to breed every single day of the week.

It also helps me with my other crippling health issues.

 No.2322

Mind sharing what your other health issues are?

I suffer from things like insomnia, brain fog, food allergies, and many others.

 No.2325

>>2322

I'm not that >>2293 anon, but reduction of masturbation is not some magic thing so how you suppose it helps with insomnia, brain fog (what is this thing anyway), food allergies etc. This is all sort of separate things but you can start working with them. I guess insomnia and brain fog can be connected tho. Try to establish some good sleeping pattern https://justgetflux.com/ this is really good software and there is similar for tablets https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.lux&hl=en . Don't sit on your computer through the night if you have some work to do better try wake up early. Maybe try to take warm shower before you are go to bed. Or at least wash your legs in warm water (you should have warm legs when you are trying to get sleep, this is the case with me). Do not drink tea (black or green) for four hours before time you are going to go sleep and of course don't drink coffee late in the day. Don't eat just before you are going to bed, and don't eat much on your supper and don't eat food that difficult to digest on supper. Everyday try to do some physical exercises for your body. Try to not see movies before you are going to bed they can excite you and you would have trouble with sleeping. Also when you are in bed try to not thing about your life, try to not think thoughts that get you exited and upset and keeps you from sleep. Try to imagine some nice things. This something I wanted to say about sleep. About allergies – man, this is shit to have allergies. My friend has this problem so every spring he takes antihistamines, maybe you should see the doctor with that problem.

And most of all do not seek some simple ridiculous cure from all problems (as fap reduction or abolishing) things don't work this way.

Wait, what's so bad about masturbation again?

 No.2485

>>2481

I'm this >>2289 bro. I don't know anything about physical health benefits from nofap (actually I think that maybe it's bad if you keep it on really long period). But I have several important psychological benefits. Firstly when I fap much (like 2 times a day) I get bored from normal vanilla pictures and start fap on degenerate staff (hentai, milfs, bdsm, porn). And I feel myself really bad after fapping on this shit. I fully realize that for most people this is normal, but I have been very religious up to my 16 years (I dropped religion many years ago tho) and have some unconscious moral values since those times. So if I don't want to fap on degenerate staff I need to reduce fapping and I'm currently doing exactly this. Second thing is that I have made some project recently and I need to use my imagination for it. And abstaining from masturbation really helps me build some sort of attitude that I can't achieve when I'm fapping. So as you can see I don't seek some sort of health benefits from nofap.

I've tried nofap in the past. I really gave it a chance but for me personally it's not worth it.

I thought I could turn my life around and fix my social issues by not masturbating.

Well surprisingly it's not that simple. You can't just take a symptom of your misery and declare it the cause. I masturbate often because I'm depressed. I'm not depressed because I masturbate.

Nofap is just avoiding the problem by blaming it on something. That might be helpful for some people but for me it didn't do the trick.

It actually made me feel worse overall. I felt like shit because I couldn't resist the urge after a while. I pressured myself into believing I'm addicted.

Everyone acts like nofap is the universal cure but it simply isn't.

>Nofap is just avoiding the problem by blaming it on something. That might be helpful for some people but for me it didn't do the trick.

m8, it was stupid thing to think that nofap can actually solve some of your problems. I despise porn and my fap addiction and when I break my nofap I inevitably start fap on more and more degenerate staff. I feel that it's wrong thing to do to myself so I fight with this and feel myself awesome when I'm succeeding. Thinking that nofap can cure your social issues is plain dumb, except maybe that fact that you don't feel yourself guilty dirty masturbator when on nofap.
