 No.3034

I have started to go out in the mornings for a quick hour, no less of an hour out there, to bring me closer to the physical world and to my own body and get me out of my mental cage.

This morning was the second day.

Do you want to join me? Do you think I will fail in a second? Don't hold it back, anon! POST IN THIS THREAD NOW.

 No.3038

I used to go running for roughly 20~30 mins a day several times a week. Bump to support you and try to start running again as a normal thing

 No.3040

I can run for a MAX of 34 minutes. That is my best. Three days a week.

Today was my third day, still going strong! My legs are really sore, but I am starting to be able to run a bit longer. I don't know how I clock it timewise, I will try to bring an stopwatch tomorrow.

Forth day, still going strong!

Every single day I've done a little bit more than the day before (a measly 100 meters more, but hey!) and the running distance must be around 3km or so. I forgot to take a stopwatch with me, so tomorrow I will try to clock it.

I'm pretty good at long distance running, I usually go for runs at night (fewer people around and generally nicer) across the countryside for ~40mins, the only difficultly I have is making myself get off my arse and go.

 No.3082

A tip for you, OP: Don't run every single day.

Last time I tried, I went for a month or two before horribly painful shin splints hit me. That killed my motivation and ended my relationship with running for a few years.

So yeah, running feels good, but allow yourself to rest.

>mfw I originally read this as "metal cage" and was wondering why you didn't run to Home Depot to get yourself a hacksaw

No, but I used to be fast as fuck, despite the fact that I've always been somewhat overweight–top-heavy, but with powerful legs. Stopped running for a while, tried to start again a week ago, went to this fuckhuge flight of stairs in my neighborhood, and sprinted up it three times. Thought I was still in breaddy good shape. Turns out I wasn't, and I've barely been able to walk for the past week.

 No.3108

Following >>3082 's tip, I took a break for a day, and exchanged my "running 5km" for "swimming 750m" yesterday.

Boy am I rusty at swimming.

Good boy. Take care of your joints.

So! Exams took over and I didn't run for two days, so I decided to get back into it. Still 5km. I swear one of these days I will remember to bring my phone to use as stopwatch or something.

Back to the swimming pool. I used to go to class three times a week, so to see how bad I was at it motivated me to get back into the habit.

Today I managed to swim 1.1km.

There was a cutie on briefs and bikini top swimming on my same lane, shit was distracting.

Good god, 5k already? Nice work!

Take breaks, plenty of fluids, and pasta is your friend. Keep up the good work!

Out of curiosity, have you thought about timing yourself on your 5k? Maybe setting a goal of improving your time can give you something to work towards.

so have you stopped already?

 No.3397

Good luck anon. And Emi is 2nd best girl.

 No.3399

Running an hour is no bueno

 No.3400

Some tips here

Take a days break in between runs, but that's already been discussed. Honestly I'd say do the elliptical trainer instead of running. Running a lot will seriously damage your knees over time.

Don't run for an hour, you can do elliptical but I'd say you shouldn't run for an hour.

Do not fucking sprint and especially don't fucking sprint up ladders. Research the proper method of running down to feet and all.

I'd also suggest "altra" running shoes. I can tell they make a difference by walking alone. I haven't been able to run in over 5 months now since an injury
