Is bates method true?

Also vision improvement.

Not enough evidence to support it whatsoever.

You could technically argue that it's the vision corporations hiding the research so everyone would have to buy glasses and they could make money. Which for all we know, there is some research out there that is being hidden, however, the bates method is not that research.

Get lasik.

If you do contact or EXTREME sports then give them up for better eyesight.

"extreme" sports

bad for the eyes?

how?

Contact sports can reopen the cuts they make when they make the flap.

i.e. in boxing the impact and friction of the glove either on your eyelid to your eye or the eye its can tear it. other contact sports fingers/knuckles can poke you etc.

high altitudes can potentially damage your eyes because of changes in pressure. air plane cabins are pressurized but mountain climbing/skydiving isn't

swimming is another one but it can be mitigated with goggles.

That's too many restrictions. What's the point of perfect eyesight if you can't use it to do cool shit?

As I remember there's another version of LASIK which is slightly different but with the same results. The alternative has a much longer recovery time, but results in a much more stable operation.

Or you could just wait for a pair of kickass bionic eyes, we're almost there.

I'm fairly sure that an alternative where they don't make that flap is available. SMILE or something. They still have to make a small incision though, I think.

Just that, perfect eyesight. I can't box anymore but damned if I wouldn't do it all over again. You can still do sports though primarily it's the contact sports that are out.

20/400 vision sucks when you realize what 20/20 feels like. I should know, I felt like I was a prisoner in my body when I didn't have my glasses.

What you're talking about is PRK. What PRK does is instead of removing the flap it fixes your eye right then and there but instead of the fresh flap covering the lasered area, your eye is basically exposed and the idea is that it will heal. Good luck if scar tissue develops though and the pain may never go away.

There are. The biggest one being PRK. I heard much more horros stories on that front which is why I opted out of it.
