I need to know how to break out of my nihilistic view of life. I don't like thinking that everything is pointless. Whenever somebody talks about what is "good for the future of humanity" or whatever, I just think they are being silly due to how little human life, or even existence as a whole, matters in the end.

These thoughts or feelings could possibly be a percentage of the reasons I am so miserable with my own existence. I am fed up with feeling this way, so if anybody knows of a way to change this, I would be much obliged.

I'm not trying to come across as an edgy faggot, I would just like some advice. Who knows, maybe it could help out a few other passing anons as well?

Try to do things purely for yourself. It's easy to see why doing anything is pointless when the only purpose is to benefit this vague image of "humanity". Instead, do things that benefit you, make you happy, things that enrich your experience of life. For some people, the illusion of helping mankind through its futile existance makes them feel good.

I could try this. Is there anything you would suggest?

Breaking off from nihilism has been my quest for the last few years. After lots of digging, I think I've found something I can hold onto. Open yourself to the idea of the divine, think about free will, ask yourself where the mind resides and whether we are fundamentally different from deterministic machines such as contemporary computers.

Nihilism can work both ways. You may tell yourself: why bother? Why improve my life?

But in the same nihilistic sense I may ask: why not bother?

If those answers are equally valid, then it comes down to OP's character. If he hasn't been able to escape his dark place so far, I doubt he will after reading your advice.

Its actually very fucking easy, start reading occult texts, you will realize you have a completely degenerated understanding for words.

Don't feel bad either, mainstream media is to blame, they are the ones who try to trap you into either virtuallity or nihilism. Its because those are the only philosophies that convince people to keep valuating themselves over shit they consume.

Read Stoic philosophy like the Enchiridion and Meditations

Read Schopenhauer and Nietzsche

Read Jiddu Krishnamurti's Freedom from the Known

These will help you. I'm serious. Seriously put in the effort and read these guys and you will transcend nihilism. At least I did. It's gonna be alright.

I don't know if I'm in a "dark place", but I simply want a way to change my mindset as far as life is concerned. I may have worded my post poorly, but I want to be able to believe what we do actually has meaning regardless of whether it actually does or not; as opposed to " when we're dead it won't matter anyway ".

reject nihilism, acquire absurdism

I read through a bit of meditations, but it seemed to all just keep saying "doing stuff that is just fun is bad, you need to be passionate about something worthwhile" However, I dont have anything Im passionate about. (even stuff that isnt worthwhile)

Is it all so seemingly negative and judge-y?

 No.3617

It may be hard to find a motivation. Or something worthwhile. In the end, we experience reality in our brains. Anything we do won't matter in the end. We'll all die.

But if you think about it, it may all be about you. What you feel is real. Overcoming our fears is what spices up life. You know you'll die. So why not get the most out of your mundane existence?

It doesn't have to be something grandiose. It may be to give a little help to someone in need, to overcome your fear talking to that hot girl, to travel or to do something that takes you out of your comfort zone.

What you may be lacking are new experiences. That feeling of discovering something new. Be amazed at something.

You're too inside of your comfort zone wasting your life over analyzing things.

Move. Create. Discover.

I take the view that someday, every human, or human-descended sentient will be able to trace their linage back through me. I hope to be the sort of matriarch that they will be proud to have.
