After a long time I made a small but real positive change in my life. I just started a blog to chronicle my attempts at self improvement. I did this mainly to increase my motivation by giving me another reason to continue with self improvement. I am posting here mainly because I planning to have my first real post (not just an introduction) done on Friday and by posting here I can remind myself to keep on that.

With this blog my goal is to experiment with different techniques on solving different issues in my life and having a record of that so I can look back on what I have accomplished.

Here is the link if anyone cares http://criticaliving.blogspot.com/

Just finished another post this one is about creating a fitness routine. http://criticaliving.blogspot.com/2015/10/creating-workable-fitness-plan.html

I have one more planned for two weeks from now about learning as effectively as possible. After that I'll probably do a few posts that are less research based.

Nice. What kind exercise do you do?

The example table is basically the plan I made for myself. For weightlifting I split upper and lower body during the weekend days and do both on wednesday. For cardio I do either jogging or swimming if I have enough spare time to go to the pool.

I am a bit late on this one I expecting to have it done last week but I ended up having a lot to do. I am thinking of doing some general opinion type posts which can be put out quicker as opposed to the more research involved ones I am doing right now.

Just finished another post (http://criticaliving.blogspot.com/2015/11/thoughts-that-keep-me-up-at-night.html). This one came much later than I wanted it to since I have been having problems with my laptop. I should have another one done by the end of Sunday.

I may know help for your anxiety.

"Reframing"

Try to see your fears from a different angle.

>Over the last few decades obesity rates…have increased.

Right but dying in your 50s by a heart attack is better than starving to death by the age of 20. This was normal in 18th and 19th century in Ireland and other countries.

Today even poor people can get fat. That's not great but much better.

>depression rates… have increased.

This is probably not even true. More people get diagnosed with depression but that doesn't mean that people were happier in the past.

>a lot of other negative things have increased.

http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm

1990 was worse in almost all cases.

Google "reframing" and maybe you find some useful info. This technique helped me alot when I was depressed.

Thanks, I'll look into that. It seems similar to the CBT stuff I have been trying out.
