 No.4093

Right now I`m in college obtaining a degree that I don`t really want at the behest of my parents. It just so happens that the career that I`m pursing does not require a degree and it all just seems pointless. I`d rather work while waiting for a response from the Police department.

How do I motivate myself to do my coursework and try to enjoy going to my local community college more?

Bump, third year disillusioned uni student here

I have no idea what I want to get out of my community college, at the moment I'm just getting an associate of science with no real idea of what I want to do with my life.

You got two options m8.

1) Stop enrolling, work full time to save money in order to travel. This will expand your world view, and you probably need a vacation after a decade plus of schooling.

2) Get your associates then do the above. Basically you need to travel, read more, expand your mind and think outside the box.

You dont need motivation to complete your schoolwork, you need discipline. If you need to incentivize yourself then do 45 minutes of work then 15 minutes of free time (vidya, reading, meditation preferably).

Im in the same predicament, so I know your pain. Keep truckin along.

I also have community college woes.

>can't finish extra credits in high school because of depression

>spend 5 long years trying to better myself and working on projects

>completely unable to work physical labour jobs but push through it and end up at 100 pounds (at 6'4) and with a good work ethic

>finally as good as any hard working student that got in wherever they wanted

>early rejection from every university before I can submit proof of extraordinary circumstances and my recent accomplishments

>can only get in to some half baked community college course

>all the teachers are 70 year old foreigners who don't know how to teach

>they're starting to retire/lose it

>school wants to shut the program down

>courses are disorganized as hell

>the only company who hires from our college is almost bankrupt and laying off workers

>parents are retiring/sick, no way I can afford anything else after this

>can't go back to physical labour until I finish working on my body

Tell me I'm going to make it

35 yo anon here with a BA and a career. Wife kids and the whole thing, even after a decade on half chan.

Let me tell you the truth, anon, you'll never be motivated to do your coursework. Just get into good habits regarding it. You'll never like it, it will always be work, but you can train yourself to push through it.

Then something weird will happen. You'll get in a groove. It won't be so bad anymore. You'll be daily rocking through your shit and getting it done and out of the way. You'll feel better. You'll never "like" your work, you'll never feel motivated to do it, but that "UGH FUCK I HAVE TO DO THIS SHIT AGAIN" feeling will go away. You won't feel guilty playing vidya afterwards.

It's an upwards spiral instead of a downwards spiral.

> try to enjoy going to my local community college more?

See if there is ANYTHING AT ALL that interests you outside of class. ANY club, group, event, ANYTHING. FORCE YOURSELF TO GO. Meet people. All of us fellow anons on the chans are really our there IRL you know. We cook your meals, we haul your trash, we connect your calls, we drive your ambulances, we guard you while you sleep. Find the weirdos IRL who are weird like you.

Aside from all the NEETs and hikkis. They we aren't out in the world at all.

What you need OP is to link whatever it is that you're learning to the real world.

This is the part where I tell you to get a job where you can put what you learned to good use.

It will click so fucking fast it will make your head spin.

And if that doesn't work, then switch out. The fact that you're getting an education(hopefully cheap at that) is pretty damn good.
